Is it just me or was the nerf to the Hunter aspect “Ensnaring Slam” just way too blunt?
Having used it a lot pre-nerf, it was enjoyable to string up whatever your target was, with a few moments to really give it to ‘em while they’re hanging. Post-nerf it just feels like an entirely useless Aspect.
Even WITH the Thread of Continuity Fragment, after pounding the ground, you barely have enough time to finish the Hunter animation of bringing the perspective back to 1st person and raising their gun back up to ready before the target is already freeing itself from the trap. You may get a few rounds in (and I mean only a few), but there’s quite literally no way to put any meaningful damage into the target before they’re free, making the use of this Aspect, well…useless.
Without the Fragment, forget about it. Don’t even use the Aspect. You’ll still be in animation by the time they’re free. Tested this on some Barrier Champions on Legend activities and yeah, you’re just bringing your gun to ready and they’re already free and in some cases firing at you.
Please Bungie, revert the shortened timer on trapped enemies in Ensnaring Slam to what it was before. The nerf you’ve done to it effectively killed the the aspect and the fun tied to it.

Slam should have the old duration. It puts you in danger.
-
Suspend is dead. Long love the beyblade.
-
They nerfed it into the ground. By the time the animation is done the adds are already breaking free. Not very useful since it was high risk/high reward.
-
It should prob use a longer suspend duration. That would be a custom effect though so that would be hard to implement
-
They should have just nerfed Drengr's Lash and Shackles. Thread of Continuity was fine and so was Ensnaring Slam.
-
Nerfing stompees should help

The best part is that they claim Stasis is supposed to be the best for locking down mobs, but thanks to how Shatter works, it's one of the worst for it and just becomes a different flavor of Volatile. Blind has always been better than Stasis, and Suspend was better than Blind. Unfortunately, there's still no other viable PvE Hunter Strand build for group content even after the Suspend nerfs. You can try and get cute with Assassin's Cowl, but other subclasses use that exotic better and Void is just flatly better at the invis game in general.
-
I've just abandoned Strand. It doesn't feel good anymore with the heavy nerfs. They do this with hunter kits every time.
-
it's because when they shipped it, it was balanced around the original duration. bungie does this all the time. nerfing one thing ruins another.
-
Yeah, the blanket nerf to strand was stupid.

Edited by Guardian6704: 8/29/2023 6:23:35 AMI will say, suspend took maybe too big of a hit, however, suspending unmatched champions should have the same effect as suspending bosses. This is to prevent suspend from being the one strand kills all. The same would be true for stasis and its freezing ability. Increase suspend duration against champions back up though.

Drangers Lash says hello
Tested this on some Barrier Champions on Legend activities and yeah, you’re just bringing your gun to ready and they’re already free and in some cases firing at you.
This is part of the reason why it was deservedly nerfed, as it lets you completely bypass the shield of a Barrier Champion by preventing them from using it. Stasis also does this, but you need to chain-freeze and that takes more investment than using one ability with 100% uptime. I think it should be reverted specifically for Unstoppable Champions, as it's intended for stunning them, but it shouldn't be the answer to every encounter like it previously was.

Champions have even more resilience to it. Also suspend is not designed to work against all 3 champs. Sorry they tuned your crutch

Someone never dropped a rift before.

Edited by riven of a 1000 choices: 8/29/2023 12:23:47 PMimho not only slam but strand in general. the suspend is so short now that is basically useless as a titan, 2 suspend grenades where enough and i didnt have to bring unstop weapon now even after the 2 grenades the unstop is barely at 50% health and i need an unstop weapon
-
Just go full Unraveling build now Run the new Maelstrom aspect with Threaded Spectre and Sixth Coyote. Use shackle nade in harder content just in case, grapple in easier for speed.
-
i think instead they should have made it so strand tethers targets to the ground stopping them from jumping and slightly messing with their aim.. if the target is really high up this will kill them due to the speed of the slam into the ground

Just use the Decoy and Crazy Tangle ones.. much better.
