Guardian ranks make me laugh. They truly do. I’m now a whopping rank 6 because I quit playing for basically 7mons. I never purchased Season 23 because I only returned for the pinnacle weapons reissue. Here’s the Bungie logic. Can’t ever get to rank 7 because I don’t own the Season 23 pass and am required to increase my rank with the seasonal vendor. Can’t increase my rank with the seasonal vendor because I’m locked out of from being able to complete the seasonal vendor bounties. I’ve completed everything this game has offered since it released but I’m just a rank 6 scrub because I won’t give Bungie anymore money. I’m okay with that. Forever 6.

Agree. I understand desire to create "community" but this ain't it. Ill conceived. In terms of what you can accomplish (rank up), player "opinion" / dependence like this should play no part. In terms of everything not tied to rank up, not sure what the intent was. From what I've seen, the negative component to commendations is common. I've see it and heard it in - group plenty of times ( e.g. "screw that dude....he gets play maker" ....or "scrub gets best dressed"). New toy. / device .That's how it's worked out. I'm sure some folks just open the window and throw a commend out there, dont give it any thought. Or forget. Or are unaware. But there are 100% the trolls with this too. Childish. Reword / rework it or drop it. It's old.

The ones you give count too so there's no way you're 'stuck in the 1200s for 4 months'.

The commendations are meaningless unless you are regularly raiding or dungeoning. I'm on 1200 and something which isn't exactly sublime and I couldn't give a toilet-spouting hoot about them.
