Stuff about Midi-chlorians

Midi-chlorians are ubiquitous intracellular microscopic organisms, betraying one’s sensitivity to the Force and thus powerful cognitive, physical, and telekinetic abilities through great concentration if the subject bearing them has many thousands. Originating in the Wellspring of Life in the Deep Core through the Cosmic Force, they reside in living things and consolidate, accumulating a great number of individual midi-chlorians in certain beings, which thus causes greater Force sensitivity; such a midi-chlorian count is required of a person to use the Force as, say, the Jedi do. But is it so that midi-chlorians are causal of the mysticism of the Force’s power? Still in the air is the perspective that midi-chlorians themselves are not responsible for force sensitivity because thus the most powerful force-wielders would only be so due to biological chance at birth (however, hereditary sensitivity is present in multiple instances). Instead, they may be attracted to one with a higher mystic connection to the force. Nevertheless, the biology and a conspectus of midi-chlorians are required. Midi-chlorians are obligate mutualistic symbionts, and, according to Qui-Gon Jinn, life cannot subsist without it. Symbiosis between bacteria and a host tends to result in bacteria deleting genes not vital to the mutual benefits of the relationship. They are biotic components within cells, but are separate from the cells they are within, and may be very simple prokaryotes. Otherwise, their temporal range can’t be determined as unicellular eukaryotes. On the matter of DNA, if Qui-Gon’s explanation of midi-chlorians is to be believed, they explain the genetic aspect of Force sensitivity. Higher sensitivity is hereditary to some degree, as is seen with Luke Skywalker and Leia, whose ability in part stems from genetic midi-chlorians passed from their father. Midi-chlorians can also be likened to the mitochondria of a cell - mitochondria generate adenosine triphosphate, while in comparison, the midi-chlorians generate the Force, with excess ATP likely as a result. Midi-chlorians additionally share a symbiotic relationship with the Whills, who may also be unicellular organisms (per George Lucas), however, those that chronicled galactic history in their journal. The Whills align with the Cosmic Force which birthed midi-chlorians in the Wellspring of Life, and in the same sense are the “will of the Force”. The Whills were also prophets, and from the Force, they gave to select individuals, notably Anakin Skywalker, prophetic destinies. Anakin was believed to have been conceived by midi-chlorians, which caused him to retain such excessive amounts of them from birth - he was a product of the Cosmic Force, born from it and given a destiny by the Whills. The ambiguity of the Whills is a topic of great interest; they are in part described as unicellular organisms, much like midi-chlorians, but that conflicts with their chronicling of galactic history in the Journal of the Whills - microscopic beings of the Cosmic Force could not function as such, to do thus. It may be that the journal was conceived, but not transcribed by the Whills, instead by a servant or being connected with them - possibly the Shaman of the Whills, who attained eternal consciousness as one with the Force. Perhaps the Whills communicated their knowledge to the Shaman or a scribe through the Cosmic Force via midi-chlorians. There is certainly much to be considered in the area of the Whills, the Force, and the obligate mutualistic symbionts that are midi-chlorians and the universe.

  • Midichlorians are bullshit; midichlorians are the result of trying to explain away the "magic" part of the force. They are space wizards with magic swords. Star Wars is not good Science fiction, it is good sci-fi fantasy.
