Miss red war

Howdy bungie, I just wanna say: I love Destiny 2 but I personally Think that Red War should come back and be the New Light Experience because the New Light Experience now is too Similar to how Destiny 1 began. Not upset that it's how Destiny 2 starts now, but it will ALWAYS feel like a Lesser Experience.

  • Yeah I think at one point Red War and Forsaken will be revamped and brought to speed with the updated engine. I enjoyed Red War but felt like I was fighting Bane the entire time.

    • Red War is the result of Bungie scrapping the original Destiny 2 story less than a year before launch. Arguably, it is an after-effect of them canceling the original Destiny 1 story so far into development which caused chaos everywhere. It was rushed content with terrible writing, repetitive engagements, poor enemy density, no true "boss" fights until the very end with Ghaul, poor uses of the already limited content, an even worse engagement with the different planets, and the story ultimately meant very little to anything and was quickly brushed under the rug after it was finished. The Red War campaign was one of the worst pieces of content that Bungie has ever created and is only held high by those blinded by nostalgia. It should stay deleted and a true New Light experience needs to be crafted from the ground up instead of trying to piece together scrap from nearly a decade-old release. Let it go.

You guys don't want to hear it but Red War isn't actually part of Bungie's plan with the witness. They only started making a real saga when they released Shadowkeep and the witness was first teased/introduced. As great as Red War is, it wasn't made when they were thinking about making connecting stories. Before Shadowkeep, it was just "the darkness". Just a placeholder that people could use their imagination with. Make their own theories. Bungie didn't have any of these Witness ideas at that time. Eventually they had to take the story somewhere eventually the darkness had to become known otherwise the story never builds coz we're just fighting the unknown baddy forever. Know what i'm saying? I want Red War back as much as the next person, but there's some food for thought.
