Making Ranks and XP matter beyond 100... the Ritual Pathfinder system in 3 weeks.
Currently the core function and benefits from progressing XP and rank are as follows:
• The artifact
• Bonus power
• The Season Pass... it's boons and rewards.
• Bright Engrams
All that seems good until you start ranking up.
At rank 30 something... your artifact is fully unlocked, so that falls off.
There's a limit to how much bonus power qualifies per the delta... it's +21 I think. Then, that falls off.
The Season Pass... once you have all of it unlocked, you're done at rank 100.
So, currently the only real progression for dedicated players after you hit +21 are vanity rewards from rng Bright engrams.
Pathfinder will change that... rewards, progression, and player buffs and boons... for rng, for combat. Through what looks to be an expansive skill node mechanic (tree) that will be able to be tailored to each individual players' motivations.
This is what Pathfinder will be. Essentially, a system of progression that makes XP matter... that gives the player a reason to grind for node/skill tree unlocks past Rank 100... past +21. Making it more than just bonus power and Bright engrams.
Are you getting excited yet?
Bungie has confirmed none of this, btw. And they encrypted the API, so it's not a leak.
😇 👍💠 More information coming soon... I guarantee they're going to use it (Pathfinder) to market the Final Shape in the next 3 weeks.
Until then, let's call it "spinfoil" 👀.
