Good Day,
I swear, finding straight forward credible information for Destiny 2 is sometimes extremely difficult if you're not up to date with everything happening.
So, anyway...
I'm running Facet of Purpose on a Prismatic build & trying to decide between generating Restoration x1 on Orb of Power pick ups or an Overshield. The specific super associated with it does not matter to me as I rarely use them & tend to prefer gunplay unless I'm fighting a major boss or something.
I know that the overshield basically gives me an extra pool of health, while Restoration x1 gives me health regen... correct? I'd love to get specific numbers if anyone has them. But my main question is, do either of these give me DR? Ideally which is better & why? 🤔

Void Overshield is up to 45 extra health, and 50% damage reduction while it's active. Restoration x1 is 35 health per second, and x2 is 50. Generally, Restoration is better, as it's the only real option for health-over-time, while damage resistance is easily covered via Resilience (3% per tier) and chestpiece Resistance mods (15/25/30% to the associated damage type). However, it's not like these are the only options for survivability. There's no reason why you couldn't use a gun with Heal Clip to get Cure x2 (120 health restored over half a second or so) or something with Repulsor Brace to have a much higher uptime on the Void Overshield. If you're using any Arc abilities, you get 15% DR while in the Speed Booster sprint of Amplified, and the artifact mod Galvanic Armor gives another 25% while Amplified.

Restoration will always be better if stacked with a source of damage resistance.

Can I ask a question? What class are you using, asking about? Prismatic, I get that because you're talking about the fragment. Some here are feeding you biased and ignorant information. Be wary of that. It ultimately comes down to, what works for you and how you like to play.

I do not have numbers, but I have suggestions. This question is best answered with the following info.. What class? What play style? Overshield, frost armor, or wovenmail are better for aggressive play like that on a consecration/melee build on a titan or dodge punch hunter. One is regenerating health. The other is continuously giving you damage protection. If you are in the mix chaining aoe by slams or punches the orbs are falling at your feet, and or paired with powerful attraction, pulling the orbs in. You would want facet of blessing on said build thus regenerating health on said melee kills AND then you are also gaining an overshield, frost armor, or wovenmail at the exact same time. If you are a more patient player, your probability of getting an orb go down since they mainly land where the enemies are outside of orbs generated by supers. Here, health regeneration would be more important.

Restoration is way better. It heals continuously even while taking damage. Void over-shield have only 45HP but are okay in low end stuff but break very quickly in anything expert and up in my experience.

Edited by jhermannITJ: 7/19/2024 4:41:06 PMDepends on the content and difficulty: Destiny Data Compendium 50% DR from an Overshield. Overshields can be extremely strong if you are able to keep it up. They're both good... Technically, IF you could keep both going Resto x1 vs. an Overshield... an Overshield is better. In practice, typically you need to build into Overshields to make them viable in more difficult content. What I'm saying, neither is a wrong or a bad choice.

I’m surprised you can’t find the information on Google, it’s extremely easy to find. Anyway, restoration x1 is 35hp/s for however many seconds it grants, biggest overshield you can get is 45hp. Restoration is by far the better choice.
