Oscillation, Haste and Counterfeit - get rid of these useless modifiers

None of these modifiers bring anything positive whatsoever to the player experience - they don't provide challenge, they don't promote team play, they don't promote out of the box thinking, they're simply annoying nonsense that nobody asked for, that suck any fun out of running strikes. I honestly wonder if any of these things are play-tested before being put in the game with the player experience in mind. Someone needs to have asked, "Is running over an ammo brick and immediately dying going to be fun?" or "Is standing in a rift but also having your health chipped away by this modifier going to be fun?" The answer is no, not at all. Do us all a favour and patch them out asap and forget they were ever a thing.

They should just rework them to be benefits for playing into rather than downsides. I'd rather a rework than outright removal tbh. Oscillation should be that using a pulse rifle just gives you increased SMG damage for example and there isn't any nerfs to any weapons at all. Haste should be that sprinting grants a very slow health regen and sprinting for a short distance will give you increased handling and reload speed. Counterfiet should be reworked to be exotic, legendary and blue engrams that drop but you can pick them up and throw them at enemies for huge damage and create chaos with them being a timed explosion rather than proximity based. Sorta like Grasp exotic engrams but you pick them up like relics but not every enemy would drop one as they should be infrequent. Oooo and the rarer tier engrams should have bigger and more damaging explosions but are also rarer to drop and exotics could have wolfpack munitions as something special.

  • Just read what counterfeit is and whoever made that modifier needs to just quit and walk away from the gaming industry. I had no idea these were coming and to my surprise I spent a bunch of strikes randomly exploding with absolutely zero understanding as to what the hell was happening. Now I see I was picking up explosives. Did not know that was a thing so I didn't correct my behavior. It's stupid. It's pointless. It doesn't add challenge or play styles. It's just some dev being a bitter bully or being bored. It's a stupid useless idea that I hope crashes and burns hard 100% agree those modifiers need to go yesterday. I'm all for changes but not something subtractive or so annoying. Like hey I want players to use different guns....should we make unique changes to make others more enticing? Hell no just break the good ones so everything sucks.....should we add some new enemy types or some soloable puzzles? Definitely not just hide explosives all over the floor so they don't know why they are randomly exploding then sitting there for like 40 seconds with no idea what is happening. This is so dumb.

    • What’s the point in running strikes? I only run nightfalls due to better rewards. Plus i absolutely hate strikes, they are probably the most boring activity in the entire game.

      • Haste is obviously Bungie's answer to people who wanted to be carried through Strikes. That said, the timer is annoyingly low enough to wipe you if your whole team is down, or if you're just respawning.

Agreed. The only reason I can think of that these modifiers were included is as a means of pushing players into playing Crucible or Gambit instead of VG Ops. I looked at the Ops playlist today, saw that haste was active & immediately just decided to play Gambit instead. Bungie, anything that can make a sane human purposefully decide to play Gambit has to be considered the work of Satan. If you must insist on keeping these modifiers in then they need a rework. For haste (the worst one of the lot imo) I would suggest removing the dmg from standing still & simply making it so you don't regen health while standing still. For oscillation I would suggest removing the dmg penalties & weapon restrictions altogether & simply make it so that using your kinetic slot empowers energy & power for a short time, energy empowers kinetic & power, power empowers energy & kinetic. As for counterfeit, a simple nerf of the dmg AND adding a reasonable detonation delay would easily suffice.

        • Bungo is doubling down on chickens**t and annoying ways to kill players for no reason. As if the abundant bugs and persistent networking problems weren't unpleasant enough.

        • It does feel like bungo literally had a meeting for enemy perks and said right how can we make these as annoying as possible. You would think with the player base crashing into near oblivion as it is that would not be a good strategy but hey this is bungo after all, they wont be satisfied until they have driven every last player out of the game.

          • Kinda feels like they're doing everything they can to push people away from strikes, so rhey can turn around and say the numbers for strikes are low, so they have a reason to remove it or stop updating it. Sounds like the kind if bullshít they'd pull

          • God do I miss the days of stuff like Airborn or Sunrise. You know, modifiers that actually gave buffs. Hell, D1 was never even made where those modifiers were basically a requirement for optimal. Unfortunately of course, some people just had to complain so much over the years that the game is too easy. Just take away the fun, yeah that's the best course of action. Not.
