It make sense. People got their hand cut off in the movies, so a crosshairs makes sense. Not to mention that sense the majority of a Lightsaber fight is mental, this would throw off the opponent (similar to Dooku's curved hilt). It's also probably an independent design by someone not fully trained. The blade is not refined and is extremely crackly when United, leading me to believe that it is an improvised Saber made by a Novice Dark Jedi/Sith. Edit: that spelling error above is suppose to say ignited

Actually it is within actual lore. If you truly knew the lore as you seem to be claiming you would know that each person goes through a process of developing and creating their lightsabers so of course their will be some that are different. Darth Maul, Sith Lord Exar Kun, Maris Brood, Warb Null, Darth Nihl, Tera Sinube, Haazen, Githany, Kit Fisto. the list is quite long

  • You can't really say it goes out of lore, though. 1 and 2 both did something similar with new and different saber designs as well. This could be an evolution of the tech, or it could be a singular design, we don't know.

  • I thought it looked badass, but I know it's going to receive negative feedback for retaining the traditional light-saber look.

  • Not only that but would it even be more effective, might as well use a vibrosword.
p.s.found the link
• In theory, yes it would be. It adds an additional contact surface to deal more strikes with. Given that Sith as a whole tend to favor more brutal styles of fighting... I can see it working. It's not a finesse sword, more of a bruiser's weapon

That is true, but the spokes would most likely be for last minute defense sword slides(a move that youslide your blade down the other, while in a lock, that can cut off your hands, like count doku)which could be countered afterwards.

  • Also as a quick melee counter. Lock blades, sidestep, crossguard into the head.
