First edit: thanks to all the Guardians who send their support, strategies and tips. For the post that I've been reading, must confess that was expecting a lot more of "stop whining, not for noobs" and things like that. I'm really glad that a lot of you have give me your support! This community it's not so lost that everybody says! Thanks a lot to everyone!
2nd: stop telling me to change my fire team! If I'll do it, I'll doit with my friends! We're a team, a brotherhood. Not going to change them over a shader and a gun :)
Hi Guardians! As you read at the title (yes, after 3 weeks) me and my fire team are still trying to beat crota in hard mode. I'm starting to think that it's one of those things that you want to do for several time and one day just come up at the first try and no effort.. It's really frustrating to be every day at night trying and trying to beat him with no results at all further than a "ahhhh we almost did it, was so clooose! Look 1 sword away..."
We try everything. From below the right tower, from the outside of the crystal, putting bubbles at the Knights, putting the bubble in one side of the platform where crota is, filling the floor of light orbes, don't know what else.
We do it fine, we destroy his shield in a second, no problem at all, but something happens always. One die at the ogres, sword bearer get caught by crota when escaping, and other times others thinga happen... The sword can't be picked, the sword dissappear when dropped by the mob or worst when trying to hit crota and he raises right after he knees, the shield has been taken and he doesn't knee but hit the sword bearer, and of course lag.
Of course, sometimes one of us dies because a mistake, but trying several times and lose because of a bug it's frustrating as hell..
Of course a lot killed him with all of this problems too, but we just can't yet.
I'm not whining at all, just sharing my frustration with you and I hope you feel a little sympathy for me and this that cost hours every day to each one of us.
Love this game, and my fire team and I will not quit on taking down crota no matter what!

Edited by almightysundaas: 2/10/2015 4:48:48 PMPeople dying in transition periods is one of the most frustrating things for sure. If this is consistently happening, your mates are using bad routes to get to their destination. People who don't jump to dodge also end up dying. People who are not swordbearing should not be dying..though shit happens. If the struggle is real..titans should put up bubbles in key spots that everyone will run through. Hunters should go invisible to avoid detection. For best results stick to 3 hits per kneel on Crota. Time it so you start hitting him right before he hits 0 shield. That hit should count.

15 Swords = Enrage, 18 = Kill In the Crystal room, use supers to kill the four majors = 16 Orbs (or "Chalice") Make sure your Relic holder uses Heavy Ammo and hunts down the Swordbearer, leave it too late and Crota will rotate. After the second kneel, do not admire the Relic Holder smashing Crota! Start moving to your safety zone (Crystal Room or Ogre Room). Always let Relic Holder make the call of when to shoot Crota, not the fireteam telling Relic Holder when he needs to go. Make Relic Holder host, this avoids lag issues such as Crota insta-recovery smash scenarios

No worries man. Just keep at it. I have downed him several times. Have not several times too due to glitchy a$$ shite. Sword disappears, sword disappears after 1st down even when times right, crota just won't kneel no matter fps, sword bearer hides under boomer towers... And on and on it goes. One day you will log on with a good run with little to no glitches. Don't let em mass with you

If your on ps4 I'll run sword for you bro

Once you've completed it with a good team, you'll understand that even having one guy on your team that just keeps making bonehead decisions can really hold you back. I've got a group that I run the raid with and we knock him down usually within 2 or 3 attempts. However, replace even one of us with a bonehead and it easily can take 6 to 10 attempts to beat Crota. Honestly, you hope that the bonehead goes down at the crystal room because its easier to compensate for being a man down than to get caught out of position when he decides to run out of his way into a crowd of thralls for that one heavy ammo pack on the ground while everyone is racing to the Ogre room. Good luck with getting your group up to speed. I hope that it works out for you.

I have only beaten it once so far out of many attempts. It's either A stupid mistake or a glitch with Crota shield it gets annoying and most bail after a few attempts.

You might want to check if one of your teammembers is lagging up the game. We have been at it for several hours, the connections showed 3 people yellow/red (fluctuating), restarted game several times, swapped fireteam leaders to no avail. We kept getting weird problems and bugs (like the ones you mention). It was getting late and one guy had to go. While we were waiting for a replacement, we decided to practice a bit, and we got it straight away! (With a man short, supposed to be practice, so no synths used). Upon checking connections again everyone was well in the green. Maybe this will help you.
-
I'm PS3 and haven't beat it either. Maybe we could help each other.

I'm on xbox one. Add me if got want some help gt sawtoothjuggler. I'll be on later this afternoon
-
Plattform?

1 bug that most people don't realise exists is that any aoe grenades such as solar flare or the titan pulse one can destroy the sword, so keep them away from the sword bearer/sword runner
-
If you are on xbox one... Add me and I'll help u Gt - h0r5ey

Edited by hardazzdiamond: 2/10/2015 1:46:20 PMwhen Crota goes enraged take his shield down and kill him when you are one sword away don't worry about the oversoul. it may take two quick shield take downs and your gunners have to be quick. and yes my fire team has beat him on all three characters all three weeks keep on shooting guardians you will get it!
-
Most groups I've been with fail because no one is leading. The sword bearer has to give orders and lead. If there's no direction or anyone calling out to watch out for exploding thralls, ogres, etc. then you will likely fail. You just need to be careful and the sword guy needs to lead.
-
Everyone has to be on point. You shouldn't change strategies if you know one works for other people
-
I think that is the definition of whining. But I feel your pain. It will be awsome when you finally nail it. Is your swordbearer good?
-
I'm in a similar boat. I Wanted to wait until I turned 32 last Tuesday to try the hard raid and its a week and no clear. Tried for about 7 hours over 3 nights and have come extremely close a few times. First group couldn't evern down Crota correctly so that's on me for staying in that group for so long but the other two groups got so Close. Someone dies on the way to or from the ogre room. I was never the one who died either. Sword bearer hides in the ogre room so when we get to Crota He starts moving as we fire our rockets for the second down on the third sword. Crota is laughing at me.
-
iam on ps4 no sure what you play on. but if you ever need help add me be willing to help out.
-
Keep trying, victory will be sweet once you beat him.
-
What's your setup? Make the sword nearer the host. He should go and make the room, rest join on him.
-
Just did two full hard raids after reset step it up son.
-
About the bugs: Try and use ingame chat and not psn or live party. Also check your connections and don't use WLAN. If someone always has a bad connection, boot him.
-
If your having trouble taking out the swordbearer try using a warlock super with fusion grenades. Just stand on the rectangular platform right in front of the door he comes out off. Helps if this guy is the one to pick up the sword but there is time to get back if not.
-
Didn't read it all but if you're on ps4 I'm down to help you with it
-
Get a new group
-
make sure who ever the person running the sword is the host. tends to eliminate some of the sword glitches
