Is it really that bad?
If it wasn't for the planner and the guy to take charge to create order then you're screwed. I always join random raid groups like yesterday on my 30 hunter for normal crota. And they were scrambled as -blam!-. I don't like being that guy who shouts orders and tells people how to play especially as the lowest lvl in the team.
Teaching a 32 hunter how to do blink strike and get 3 then 4 hits on Crota, it just feels weird being that guy who leads while everyone just wants you to stfu. No one shooting rockets unless you count down and tell him specifically what there job is. When to shoot swordbearer. Not having 4 guys on boomer duty.
I like leading to victory but feel like an asshole.
Is it just me?

No, you need one voice to keep things in order, when everyone and their dog is chatting away it causes distraction. People goof up and die or don't take crota down when they need to because they fired a rocket too early. As the swordbearer for our group I like to lead because they are waiting for my call to shoot, and I can run the sword, and remind them about ogres and to stand on the very edge of the ledge because after 3 hits with this sword he will enrage. If it's organized and everyone is focused then you can complete it in 15 minutes, after that everyone can chat away about their wives or girlfriends or whatever after that.
