If modern humans were able to find fossils of life dating back hundreds of millions of years ago, how were they not able to find anything left behind from their past civilization or the forerunners from hundreds of thousands of years ago on earth?

  • The Forerunners had a minimal impact on Earth. Any structures on the world were a result of the Librarian and Lifeworkers. The majority of which were removed as the Flood progressed.

  • When humanity was defeated, the Forerunners dismantled and destroyed all evidence of our past civilization. This process muddied up the fossil record, giving us a hopeless chance to determine our true past via archaeology. Of course, the Forerunners couldn't destroy all evidence. Some worlds like Heian seem to have been preserved for whatever reason. Perhaps by sheer luck.
