It's week five into the Great Heavy Drought of 2015 and many guardians are feeling the toll. Xûr has just returned to the tower from another trip to the Nine and when asked to make a comment simply replied, "An end will come, we will be there." He refused to say exactly when this time would be and then proceeded to disappoint other guardians.
We began interviewing guardians shortly thereafter about their feelings and fears about this continuing dry spell. An Exo Warlock stated, "I don't know how I'm going to keep going into the hard raid! I ran out last week and that's because I was one of the lucky ones who bought from Xûr the last time he had ammo. The runs have gotten longer without the rockets and we are forced to start throwing our rocket launchers at Crota."
This was one of the more sane guardians we spoke to, shortly after we spoke to an Awoken Titan looking over the Last City and asked what he was going through in these tough times. "The darkness.. Tightening grip on us.. There's no hope.." These were his final words before jumping off the tower to his death. His ghost was devastated and took action to keep him alive, at the time of this writing the Titan is alive and recuperating in a psych ward.
We tried to speak to the Gunsmith about how business for him was going during Xûr's inability to supply however he refused to comment. After we had walked away however, we did notice him moving large bags of glimmer to the vaults. We believe he is one of very few not upset by the issue at hand.
It is hard to watch these guardians that rush into the tower in hopes to quench their rocket spree thirst these early Friday mornings quickly leave in their jumpships in disappointment. However there was one Human Hunter that is forcing a smile about it. "We are going to make it through this and we are all going to be better for it. I believe maybe people will start thinking before they throw out a synth for trivial matters, and with the holes in our ghosts' pockets about to be fixed they should last longer too."
It's nice to see a little optimistic cheer despite the grim situation. More raiding teams are coming back battered and tired, only beating Crota by the slimmest of margins. All we can do right now is hope for the Nine to be merciful next week. Until next time, eyes up guardians.
