You are correct, they are called satellites. That said, those place are very interesting scientifically. They have the largest chance for life so far as we know. Also, how do you propose we fight on a gas giant that would 1: crush us, and 2: we can't stand on since they are mate of gas (get it? Gas giant). I guess there could be a station flying in the extreme upper atmosphere... Edit: posted this b4 troll realization.
