Stop using guns to shoot ATHEON!!
Is it just me, or recently are all these christmas noobs posting on lfg as 30/31s and turning VoG HM into a shit fest.
I mean come on everyone. It is called a "SUPER". Your most powerful move. You ever wonder why your super charges so fast in the shield? Because bungie wanted you to use them. If everyone used their super. Atheon goes down IN 10 SECONDS. Ghorn is ok to use, if you are a defender. And if you have a double gernade perk. Use those first.
I swear these new guys. Thinking you need blackhammer. We did that shit for months with out it!
But I digress. Stop using your guns during times vengence. Supers only

Shoot a captain with a one sniper bullet. Does he die? No. Use one super on same captain. He dies. Why? Because the super is stronger. Now Time's Vengence multiples total damage out put. So why not multiple your strongest attack. You all just need to think about it and stop being so stupid.
Edit 4: Seriously everyone? Still don't believe me, well fine. Here, I recorded my fire team and I using supers only. Here the video. THIS IS PROOF IT WORKS.

Edit 5: Final edit. Everyone, accept it. This method is the best. All your icebreaker and blackhammer pale in comparison. SUPERS ARE THE BEST WAY TO KILL HIM.

1 ReplyIf the 5 people not holding the relic have black hammer, you can take him down straight away, first time, one teleport. No problem. An experienced team will smash through the oracles, get to the middle and pop the shield quick enough to allow over 20 seconds of times vengeance. Pop a weapons of light at the back, black hammer will then do 20k+ damage per shot, if you don't miss, you can land 12 to 15 shots comfortably. 5 people, 12 shots, each with 20k damage, Atheon is in big trouble!

Except for the fact that snipers and Gjallarhorn cause a lot of damage much faster and at a more consistent rate then the supers. And specifically looking at hunters.... Golden gun does around 1k damage per shot..... Yea thats what we want to be used against the boss of the raid instead of a 12-14k sniper.

When they are doing like 1400 with their 4 non-critable hits and I'm just sitting over there with IB laying down 16k crits... I feel like I should switch to VoC to keep up with their dps... You're retarded. My black hammer hits 17-18k per hit and 21k with weapons of light. Golden gun doesn't compare. Void bomb doesn't compare. My correct measure hits for 1k per bullet. I can dump 100 rounds into him during one times vengeance. Fatebringer hits for 4.5k per shot.

That makes no sense, take the hunter super for example. The hunter golden gun does 1200 per shot, that adds up to 4800 damage w/ the achliophage simbiote. Ice breaker does more than that in two shots, it's a waste of time to use supers. The warlock super makes it more difficult for teammates to hit aetheon. Overall, you're hurting your fireteam if you only use supers

7 RepliesBy the time you use your super you could be doing more DPS with a decent sniper/heavy machine gun or assault rifle with weapons of light. Even if you didn't have weapons of light is is still 5 people constantly doing more damage. Plus nova bombs makes him move, gunslingers do crap damage per shot and titans can't use their supers atall. Are you sure you aren't a Xmas noob? Because I'm pretty sure I've done it enough times with a decent team to know (if your looking the at the amount of raids I have done its because I only got my ps4 not too long ago and I was on the 360 before)

If I use my Heavy Machine Gun, it takes only 10 shots out of 100 to deal the equivalent damage of a GG. By using my heavy instead of a super, I'm able to deal 10,000+ damage to Atheon. Can't tell if b8, or OP's actually not-all-there.
