Tried to see if I could figure out a size, but without a known dimension in game, it's hard to do trig.
On a related note, there is some parallax in the back drop. If you run from one side of the atrium of the tower to the other, you can see minute shifts in the sky box. Too small to measure with good enough precision, but indicative of the absurd amounts of attention that was put into Destiny's visuals.

Wow a ninja!

If we know the velocity of the space ships over the city we could work something out.

There are ways to calculate that my friend. For instance there are a few birds in the game. Let's assume a pigeon who has an average flight speed I don't know off the top of my head and you could at the least calculate an incoming ship on earth not sure if there are birds in the tower but if so then there ya go. What about the fog on the tower? That's slow enough moving to measure or even guesstimate pretty easily but fast enough To see in comparison to a ship in the tower which you could then calculate using the fog as your basis. Or have someone walk in the tower since we know the average humans walking speed is between 3-5 mph

Birds in Tower confirmed, I've tried catching one, but they are not being fooled my my ninja skills. FYI, there are also butterflies. As far as walking in the Tower, it's a difficult task to attempt as Bungie decided to give us jogging-hyper-mode-too-much-caffeine as the default stride...

Haha so bump up the average speed to compensate. Instead of 3-5 make it more like 5-10

But those estimations compound hugely given the scale of what we're trying to calculate. They'd be no more accurate than Progo's original calculations.
