People seem to love to perpetuate stereotypes that mlp is only for a certain gender and doing the opposite of so automatically makes you a social outcast. Some men like pink, that doesn't mean they should be frowned upon by society. It's just a group of people who like a cartoon, some more than others, they're not all a cult of basement dwellers.
