So, the mission, "The Archive" - when you have to go into the Ishtar academy to secure data and Grayliks infiltrates, leading to a fight.
You pass some skeletons when you initially enter the doors - the ones locked with the Radial A encryption, remember?
Well, years of Fallout have taught me to pay attention to the objects, particularly skeletons, that are placed in a scene, because they often tell a story. The particular story here I wasn't sure about - there are some skeletons strewn about, one looks like the decedent was sitting at the time, another couple are entwined on the floor, another lies clean, facing upward to the ceiling.
I figured they might be research crew or engineers or some such, locked in there when The Golden Age collapsed suddenly around them.
But then I noticed none of them have hands or feet.
That would paint a far more grisly picture, but I'm having trouble putting together a plausible narrative. If the archive were infiltrated, why not just kill them? Clearly they had time to themselves after being maimed, left to bleed out. It's unlikely they did this to themselves, since one would expect a tool nearby and at least one hand among them.
Or, ya know, someone was a little sloppy with the geometry assets and just forgot to toss some hands and feet in there. But I like to think this was intentional.
Any ideas?

Or clothes.

Always thought it was weird they were naked...

Edited by DocBlood_: 2/16/2015 7:00:31 PMTwo likely explanations: 1. World consistent : Hands and feet are made up of multiple small bones much more likely to be disturbed and scattered over time. 2. Construction explanation : hands and feet being made up of multiple small bones were deemed to time consuming/difficult to model. (AKA "nobody will notice" explanation)

Easy: material farming in a pocket universe running out of a Vex simulation somewhere. In that pocket universe, the Guardians are Vex. This is the remains of a patrol mission - Collect Human Scientist Limbs. Each pair equals 3.14% Their Everywhen War Cult is conspiring with their Forever Monarchy to construct a Vex King, and they need materials from across time and space. Just keep it on the down low, please. Things with ontological value can be useful. A few million parts human handiwork and strong foundation can make for a strong leader. Often hunted for by young Vex Guardians leveling up their Ascendant Light level, or material farming.

Didn't notice that...smart if intentional. Don't want to use those hands to access secrets.
-
Defiantly a bungie screw up.

Edited by Ne0nK0ala: 2/16/2015 7:53:16 PMIn the ride along, Bungie said that those are the ones that were locked behind the doors when the power went out in the collapse. As for the no hands or feet thing, I'm not sure but I suspect it could have something to do with the later story.

Sounds like the Reavers from Firefly found Venus...
-
It's a mission in the house of wolves.....find dr shin's hands and feet below venus. ☺
-
you never noticed the Scorpion on stairs at world end on the moon then (looks like a rock - but why would it be on the stairs) in front of it are its smashed pincers. - you have to look at it from the front (facing upstairs to really notice it is a scorpion).
-
Maybe the smaller hands on the fallen are mutated human hands.
-
Human Hands and feet are a delicacy for the Fallen.
-
Maybe the hands are explainable . Maybe whoever raided it took the hands for hand scanning things. Feet. Maybe whoever broke in likes the taste of feet
-
Perhaps they were starving in there, they had to do the unthinkable and eat parts of each other. You are right this is a far more gruesome scene than we think it to be.
-
Dont try to look for hidden stories. Destiny does NOT have such depth ! Lol
-
I'm guessing they left them off to save on polygons.
-
wow.. that's new. I thought you were gonna mention that two of them were hugging on the left. It was kinda sad to see that when i entered the archive the 1st time. They were sealed in there during the collapse on the outside and I could only imagine just waiting to die. The hopelessness and despair. I wonder if one of them is Dr. Shim?
-
Did the heroic daily in the skywatch.....skeleton at control also had no feet
-
I wondered this to, but nothing got in the Archive as the fallen have just entered when you did...
-
I've noticed that too. Also one is kinda holding their own skull in their lap. Would be nice to know what happened.
-
One of the skeletons there has their skull in their own crotch
-
They covered this in a twitch walk through, even zoomed in on them and didn't say anything about missing limbs.. Weird.
-
Fallen grimmoire explains something about the fallen ripping out other falling arms. I know for a fact that dregs had their extra arms (they have 2 instead of 4 like other fallen) because they weren't worthy. Having four arms meant that they were more superior and higher in power.
-
All the skeletons are missing their hands and feet.

Master Rahool ate the hands and feet, hes an evil masochist after all.
