POLL: My action as the fireteam leader in hard mode VOG
So I was helping some friends out in VOG hard. I have already done it and was just helping bc I'm nice, handsome and ready to mingle...ladies ;) ahem...so anyways, we're at Atheon and everything went alright but then I we wiped because people inside the portal succumbed. Now, this isn't too uncommon so I shrugged it off but then it happened again. I wasn't ready to point fingers and then I got teleported inside (I never succumb) and we've succumbed. I scratched my head and then it happened again and notice my partner was the same guy shooting. I went and checked out his gear and he was using a un-upgraded 300 attack scout rifle so it was at like 276. I called him out on it and told him that he's not doing any damage. He has mic but never spoke up. I told him he's reason we keep succumbing and that he needs to let us know he's not doing anything to the oracles so we can use fusion. Before I even finished, he mumbled something and left. What are your thoughts on this matter? Was I being a dick? Should I booted him when I noticed he was useless?

you handled the situation correctly. this weekend one of the guys i've been doing hm crota invited me to a game. when i got in he asked if i was up for hm vog. sure why night right? get in at aetheon cp so we kill him and decide to run again on different characters on nm because one of our team is leaving. once again sure i'll just stay on this character to complete the whole raid. so we start up fresh and someone doing patrol strolls up and helps on the plates. one of our team says "hey we're a man down invite that guy in." fireteam sends invite and helper accepts immediately. we thank him for the help and fireteam leader says "your weapons are garbage" and boots him. that was messed up man. i felt bad for the kid.

You succumbed because of him. You told him you succumbed because of him. Perfectly acceptable response. If you yelled at him a bit, so what. Everyone should know what they need to bring for a hard raid. If they don't then they are mooching and wasting others time. Unprepared fools should be yelled at.

You were correct but you can be nicer about it. You should never say "you are the reason we are wiping" that just makes people feel bad. Try to explain why the weapon isn't effective and ask them what other primaries they have. You were not a jerk but a nicer and more helpful tone can go a long way.

You sound legit to me. You pointed out the issue and gave him a chance. Seems like he was the one being a dick.

If you were polite enough to explain what he was doing wrong and offered a solution then no way was you being a dick. -
If you were a dick you would have kicked him right away without warning. So no, you're not a dick because you were right about the situation and gave him a chance to fix it.
