Is buying Exotics from Xur "Earning" them?
If you voted yes, no, or kinda, comment below why or why not it is or is not "earning". After seeing so much controversy on this subject I want to see what some people have to say, you are all entitled to your opinions so have at it Guardians!!!

Yes buying them is earning them. Just because you get gifted one from a nightfall or raid chest doesn't earn it anymore than if you earned the coins. Getting gifted them is much more fulfilling though.

Yes it's earning it because you do the weekly heroics and earn the coins to exchange them for things you want. It's like today's currency. You work earn money and earn the stuff you have if you people say no you're just hypocrites lol.

I wasn't as excited as buying the IB from cut as I was getting a universal remote from my first legendary engram, or when I got another one on normal vog atheon, or when I got a ghorn from hard vog gorgon chest

2 RepliesI voted no. My reason? Because NOTHING is earned in this game. Its a game, not a job. You play, you have fun, and you get random loot from random drops. Whether that's a legendary engram dropping from a level 2 enemy on patrol, or opening a chest in VOG, or using coins to buy from Xur. Its all random. (I don't know if Xur is ranndomised or are selected by Bungie but to me its random because I don't know what he will have each week.) Anyone who feels they've "earned" anything in this game has probably never worked a day in their life. My advice, get a job, get your first weeks/months wages and then you'll know a true feeling of earning.

Nothing is earned in Destiny. Nothing in this game is really hard and loot is always random. Or do the people who have all Crota primaries(including Necrochasm) after 2 completions really earn them? ;)

Arguing about earning weapons in a game is kind of like winning the special Olympics. You may have won, but you are still retarded. Now stop the stupidity but I know you won't.

It's a video game. The only thing you really need to do to "earn" something is buy and play the game. Also, Deej has already said it's legit since you have to "earn" the coins.

Ok so if saving strange coins to buy exotics is not "earning" then stop saving crucible and vanguard marks to buy legendary weapons and armor. If you play enough you'll get a few drops a month, maybe more if you're lucky. And don't use them to buy materials either, just go patrol and grind them out. While we're busting balls, you can also stop buying telemetries and heavy ammo and exotic engrams from Xur. .... Lol didn't think so. So stop with the Xurning isn't "earning" BS and play the way you want and we'll play how we want. It's just a game people. You're supposed to be having fun!

In a way yes but it's a really cheap way. The only way you really earn guns is by leveling up factions and earning marks to buy it.

On the flip side of the coin you can get an exotic from a legendary engram from a lvl 2 dreg or you can complete raids or strikes for a better chance at them. Even exotic bounties you complete tasks for a certainty of obtaining that weapon. So yes everything you obtain in this game you technically earn. It's just that some items you will get were more easily obtained than others because of sheer luck. It's RNG baby. It's all luck.
