OP is right, IMO. Storytelling should be more straightforward with the mass range of the audience. I love going through the grimoire to pick up pieces of it, but still...

  • I think the problem was that someone felt the story would've gone over the "masses" heads. Damned if you do, damned if you don't kinda thing. Do we put the whole story and risk alienating casual "l just want to shoot stuff" gamers with a heavily philosophical game riddled with lore and mythology? Or do we water it down, put it in grimoire and hope the true fans and followers will seek it out? Remember, you can please some of the people all the time, and all of the people some of the time, but... You know the rest.
