When you are building the spire below the sync plates ledges on the ground floor there are two portals in the corner of the middle plate and the right plate I think if you left one person back at those portals and they where there till you get to the vault and start opening the portals in the vault it will also open those portals and I think if they went in there they would either meet up with you back at the vault or find a completely new area

Not feasible. Each area of the vault is loaded in, so that the beginning of the vault would be inaccessible because it is not loaded back up for the players at atheon. Things happening in atheons chamber will likely not effect anything that isn't in atheons chamber or immediately around it.
