This was my assumption when I first read the article. Kids who are caught tend to lie their way out with "I don't knows" and try to blame unnamed friends. My experience anyway. Your mileage may vary.

I just exchanged emails with the author, He said that the other events started about the same time as the accident so unfortunately it doesn't disprove the frog's (a-hole's) story. I ask that he consider presenting them in a neutral way but I don't think he will.
