Any other family peeps out there have to balance Destiny with work, kids and a wife/girlfriend? My wife puts up with Destiny but it's mostly because I don't play till kids are tucked in and read to and I try and watch a show of my wife's choosing before jumping on. Stay on late get up early... Worth it!
What is everyone's ritual for getting to Destiny without getting in trouble with the family?
Edit: I love that I'm not alone in this. I can't believe how many people have the identical schedule as mine! Must be why I always find good randoms when I'm on, we are all family men. #destinydadsunite
Edit: We got our first Toxic Troll response. So I would like to give the award for biggest buzzkill to SEANY, You earned it bro.
Edit: WOW GUYS AND GALS!!! I woke up to hundreds more comments and 99% of them are positive! It's amazing to see so many good family peeps finding a healthy balance between gaming, work and family. You people are amazing and I'm not sure I've smiled so much reading these posts.
Edit: over 1000 replies!!!! Nice to see so many awesome people out there and hardly any trolls! Stay real guardians.

Another one that shares your pain. I tend to stay up after the GF has gone to sleep as that is now the only me time i get to see just how little progression i can make in this frustratingly addictive game. Its annoying watching all those level 31-32's jumping around with their exotics and complaining how they keep getting duplicates of exotics i'd like just one please lol. if your a PSN user hit me up if your ever on WhtANightmare

let the haters hate. Plus I don't speak Troll. So I don't even respond to them. On the good note they put your thread on the trending list, hahaha

My routine in the working week: - Get home - Make food with gf - Eat and watch TV - Watch more TV / movie - Bedroom Olympics (occasionally) - Tuck her in and leave once she's asleep Play from about 10pm-11pm until roughly 2am - Get up at half 7, go to work - Get home and repeat until weekend

Married, 3 daughters. I am fortunate though. My job gives me 3-4 months vacation Dec-March so winters are pretty much game time. I get up around 4 a.m every morning, do bills, a little house cleaning etc, then make sure the kiddos are off to school, dogs taken care of and by 8 a.m the PS3 is fired up and ready for the grind. Some days allow me to be on all day others not so much. Come summer though, you'll never see me! Once work starts, it's a real 14 hour, 6 day a week grind!

Happily married with a 4 month old son and dog. Work FT in a corporate Job which is stressful and has long hours - 60 hrs a week. Still having said that, I get to play a fair bit of destiny. The wife knows and accepts my gaming hobby as long as it doesn't interfere with other responsibilities, which I admit, there have been some conflict from time to time! Less now since my son was born though. In my view, it's all about balance. Work, lift or take the dog for a run, bath and play time with junior, dinner and a few shows with the wife, game when everyone has gone to sleep. Head to bed at midnight and get up early next day to rinse and repeat!

I used to have to fight with my 6yr old to play my PS4, but I bought her a WiiU and I'm free again. Otherwise, schedule is to get home from work, see if kids are napping, jump on and play if I can, do the father/husband thing until bed, wake up really early to play for couple hours before work.
-
Hey man I totally get the struggle. Add me on ps4 geometryduck. It's way more fun to play with adults. They seem to know what they're doing
-
Same here lol! For me, my working days/nights change from week to week- I won't lie, nothing nicer than when the kids go to school and the wife is at work and I have day off = overtime!
-
the family man struggle ? get beat up by guile & go home
-
My wife actually plays withe me albeit not that great lol but she try's. So I try and return the favor when possible as for the kids our 1 year old loves watching it actually puts him to sleep sometimes :) then my oldest 7 year old not so much but is content with it sometimes.

I read online that 1/3 people cheat on their significant other... I'm not sure if it's my wife or my girlfriend.
-
The wife tolerates it. The kids know all of the bosses.
-
No kids but am engaged and I have to admit that my girl is one of the best. Never complains about my gaming addiction and let's me play as much as possible. I get the bulk of my time in on Tuesday and Thursday bc she works late. I do my best to hop off when she gets home but when I'm in the middle of a raid she doesn't care if I finish it or not

Edited by Ides_Of_H0oligaN: 3/4/2015 12:30:39 PMYep, wife and one four year old. I have a p/t job but usually when I walk in the door the first thing I hear is "come and knock on my doooor." So yeah no TV till usually the weekends if I'm lucky.
-
Got a wife and no kids. Got a cat though. Have a full time job doing Internet. When I get home I'm alone and get about two hours in. Then when wife gets home I do husband shit. Watch tv with her and eat - I read about destiny in my phone/iPad. She gets locked into her shows and I go upstairs for more destiny. I finish around twelve and she's in bed. Sometimes I put her to bed though but that's cool. Destiny after that. Yey. Oh and -blam!- the cat. It's getting none of my time.
-
Right there wichya bro!
-
I murdered them and ate the bodies. No more dirty looks from the missus, and those kids were assholes anyway. Now I can play any time I want. FROM JAIL.
-
I'm extremely lucky to have a wife who allows me to play to my hearts content in the evenings and weekends. Most women wouldn't put up with it!!
-
I have a live in girlfriend, 2 jobs and school full time. One of the jobs is pt but still a fair bit of time spent working. I have to wait until later in the evening after homework is done. I also play with a buddy that does what you do. He averages about 60 hours a week at work then we game after his wife and kid go to sleep.
-
The same as you bro only getting a few hours late in the evening is a pain but you have to do what you have to do
-
I work in the morning, come home, clean up the house, and then I usually get a little bit of time on destiny before I pick up my daughter. I go pick her up then it's homework and I make dinner. Then I get back on destiny. My daughter loves watching me play. I usually get on after I put her to bed though. Since my boyfriend also plays destiny we play online together all the time.
-
Before 8pm if I play I do things that I can either solo or afk and it's not a problem. Only raid after 8 tho when the kids go to bed. Wifey doesn't mind lol she just calls me when she wants me for anything. I just ask that after 8 she lets me need out
-
Me too man. Luckily my wife supports my gaming hobby but I can't get on for marathon sessions.
-
I play super late on my friday night after everyone goes to bed. The wife and I give and take during the week. I get one night to play and then she gets two evenings to watch tv. I also get three day weekends every weekend so my Monday off is usually crunch time to get raids done before the reset. I have one 2 year old girl and one on the way (July!), not sure what it'll look like after the second one arrives. Family first! I'm just happy I have some kickass guys in my friends list that help me get things done. It would be waaaaay harder to play Destiny without them.
-
Yep I try to play at least 3 weekdays. I do the same thing. Put kids to bed, work out while my wife is watching one of her random shows. We hang out for a little while joking and talking of our day. Then her sister usually calls her, and I know she will be preoccupied the rest of the night so I fire up Destiny. Go to bed with about 4 hrs of sleep for work lol.
-
I'm in the same boat as the OP. Kids to bed, watch a program or two with my wife then some Destiny. Once a week I also get an entire evening for Destiny, as my wife watches the programs I don't like on that night. Sometimes it's a pain, but it mostly works out ok. It's all about balance.
