Any other family peeps out there have to balance Destiny with work, kids and a wife/girlfriend? My wife puts up with Destiny but it's mostly because I don't play till kids are tucked in and read to and I try and watch a show of my wife's choosing before jumping on. Stay on late get up early... Worth it!
What is everyone's ritual for getting to Destiny without getting in trouble with the family?
Edit: I love that I'm not alone in this. I can't believe how many people have the identical schedule as mine! Must be why I always find good randoms when I'm on, we are all family men. #destinydadsunite
Edit: We got our first Toxic Troll response. So I would like to give the award for biggest buzzkill to SEANY, You earned it bro.
Edit: WOW GUYS AND GALS!!! I woke up to hundreds more comments and 99% of them are positive! It's amazing to see so many good family peeps finding a healthy balance between gaming, work and family. You people are amazing and I'm not sure I've smiled so much reading these posts.
Edit: over 1000 replies!!!! Nice to see so many awesome people out there and hardly any trolls! Stay real guardians.

I am usually off of work before my gf get's home. I make sure the house tidied up, after this I have an hour to play Destiny. After that I am the one that cooks dinner. During dinner we watch a show of her choosing. After this I clean up the dishes and make sure she is settled for one of her shows or videogames(currently DragonAge: Inq.) on Xbox One. After this I am free to play Destiny as much as I want. Except for Tuesday. On reset day I do -blam!- all after work other than Destiny.

Work in the day family stuff at weekend get them tucked in bed and it's Destiny time
-
Same boat. Just wish those bounties were quicker, levelling weapons is a grind.
-
My gf hates destiny. She says her favorite part is when the ship is in orbit. She says the music is relaxing....
-
I work a second shift job during the week so when I hop on the wife and kids are in bed. On the weekends we do family stuff during the day. Usually my wife let's me know she's going to watch her shows, a chick flick or fire up the Wii u when she says "you getting on destiny?" Lol. Lucky to have a gamer spouse.

Married, 1 kid and another in about a month. Respect. I work my ass off to support my family. It's hard if you get up early just to get home and only have fun with your kid for 1 hour until she goes to bed. Got a good group that rushes things with me. No slow-play. Nailed 2 nightfalls, 2 complete Crota's End Hard and 2 Weekly's in 2 Hours last night.
-
Lmao my routine is exactly the same as yours! The struggle is real! Preach on brotha!
-
Same here. It's always been like that but now we've got a 8 month old she's even worse. I did play from 10pm til around 2am and get up for work at 7. Anyways, I'm 100% buying a z4 tablet for remote play so she can watch her shit on the tv while I happily play

My little boy is six weeks old, so you can imagine how much time I get on Destiny... not that I'm really complaining, love spending time with the little man and the lady friend, but I do miss that feeling of being able to pick up my controller whenever I feel like. I'm trying to get things settled into a Tuesday is Destiny night and early weekend mornings I can squeeze a little time in too. It's right now that Destiny is really working for me. Things that have hardcore gamers tearing their hair out just don't apply for me. I can do a few hours on Tuesday, few hours at the weekend and basically keep up to date with everything I wanted to do. The delay on HoW has worked out well for me too... by then the little man should be in a good routine and I can hammer it for two weeks :oD

Edited by BadgermanPrime: 3/4/2015 9:07:04 AMI'm actually quite lucky in this regard. Once the kids are in bed my wife will usually go and catch up with her soaps or whatever giving me a good couple of hours to play, then once she's done I'll usually put it off and do something with her for a bit then bed. Its a very give and take sort of arrangement that works for us so its cool. The exception to this being Tuesdays, she generally doesn't expect to see me since she knows I like to get nightfalls and stuff out the way lol
-
I hear you bud I'm the same I have set nights in Tuesday for reset and another nightfall also Sunday mornings normally at 5am after feeding the baby then put her back down and game till the wife gets up at normal 10 with another feed in the middle can normal get quite abit done in the time I'm on

Hell yes. Trying to find time to play with a wife and kid plus a 60 hour work week is a struggle I know all too well.

Relax unwind with some online games with the boys. Yeh but wife and kid plus destiny is not good trying to balance the two is hell..

I have a 2 year old boy and wife is 8.75 months pregnant with our second. I pretend to go to sleep with her around 10 or 11pm, as soon as I hear deep breathing I slowly try to get out of bed as quiet as possible. Success rate for clean getaway is hovering around 80%.. last night I decided to raid . Our 2 year old woke up from wetting bed at mignight. Wife storms in during mid sword to crotas ass.. In a rage I say..'I can't help u right now!..crotas almost Dead!'.. she then lunges towards xbox to pull the plug. I yell noooo! She doesn't do it thank god.. but storms out of room. Only after raid did I realize I am a shitty father.
-
My wife works night shifts so I bang out a good session three times a week when the kids are asleep and whenever she's watching soaps on the iPad.
-
I'm a 19 year old college student and have found that the chillest and most cooperative players to play pve with are often times the dads/30+guys.
-
Our first is on the way - hopefully HoW gets here first. No one likes the dulcet tones of a screaming newborn while they're raising.
-
Some of you need to stay off I swear. I'll play with you guys and you act like your fuking deaf and can't read. DESTROY THE ORACLE! "huh destroy what?" Leave gaming to the mature guys mate.
-
I feel your pain , bro..
-
Well, I work the night shift and get home around 3am. By then wife and kids are asleep and I get to play for about 3 hrs till I get tired. This is a 5 day a week routine.
-
Edited by Ainger25uk: 3/4/2015 8:40:50 AMI am in the same boat, only play when kids in bed. I have one night off Destiny a week where I do whatever the wife wants. I manage to get in about 3-4 hours a night on Destiny for my weekly nightfalls, raids, etc and if I get time I jump in crucible. Its a struggle to juggle gaming when the wife is not into it at all. I have a study room setup away from the main TV room so when I am shouting down the mic "take his shield down" I dont disturb anyone else lol. I have made some great friends playing Destiny over last 4-5 months, been a great experience. It's only the trolls that make these forums toxic, just play your own game and dont slate a legit forum post to bring it down
-
Play when they're at work. Then when they get home show some affection until they are asleep or get tired of your company then play some more IF you feel the need to.
-
In the same boat as a few of you, put the little lad to bed around 8 then watch the soaps with the wife, then play some destiny while she reads her Kindle Play on PS4 add me if you fancy some nightfall or anything really need to meet some like minded people so I can finally experience a raid
-
I play when in on off shifts, my gf is a daytimer so I play when she's at work, typically work out after or before work the rush home then try and sleep for a couple of hours, I only get to hit up xur Friday mornings usually because on the weekends I pick up my boy
-
My wife watches any rubbish tv she can get so i'm free to play whenever after work.
