The FAMILY MAN struggle

Any other family peeps out there have to balance Destiny with work, kids and a wife/girlfriend? My wife puts up with Destiny but it's mostly because I don't play till kids are tucked in and read to and I try and watch a show of my wife's choosing before jumping on. Stay on late get up early... Worth it! What is everyone's ritual for getting to Destiny without getting in trouble with the family? Edit: I love that I'm not alone in this. I can't believe how many people have the identical schedule as mine! Must be why I always find good randoms when I'm on, we are all family men. #destinydadsunite Edit: We got our first Toxic Troll response. So I would like to give the award for biggest buzzkill to SEANY, You earned it bro. Edit: WOW GUYS AND GALS!!! I woke up to hundreds more comments and 99% of them are positive! It's amazing to see so many good family peeps finding a healthy balance between gaming, work and family. You people are amazing and I'm not sure I've smiled so much reading these posts. Edit: over 1000 replies!!!! Nice to see so many awesome people out there and hardly any trolls! Stay real guardians.

  • I can usually get plenty of time in on my days off. Sometimes though, you just gotta suck it up and roll with it. Like earlier, the kids are asleep and I'm running Roc strikes. While battling Fallen and Hive during Will of Crota, I hear near frantic crying from my son upstairs. Apparently he fell out of bed, which woke him up making him want daddy to make him feel better. Needless to say, I had to bail and deal with more important matters until he crashed down here on the couch.

Kids in bed for 7.30/8pm, watch tv with the wife till she falls asleep on sofa approx 9.30/10pm. Then it's destiny time. Wife will wake up around 11ish, give me a disapproving look, say 'might as well go to bed now you're playing your game' (even though shes been asleep for over an hour) and that's it.

      • Same here mate, my missus is a little spiteful at times though and will make me do things to get a go on it, even if I don't want to play she will manipulate me to play by cooking for her, or cleaning. Lucky I don't have kids at the moment because I'm sure they would be my responsibility as well... Seems like wives these days are just for making babies then they get all the free time. We are weakening to the female race lol

            • One TV shared with the gf. I've basically worked it out that we have our couple's time watching whatever she wants then i jump on after that. Definitely helps if I cook dinner or something also.

                • It'a a real problem, I don't have kids but I have the OH that doesn't 'get' Destiny so have to make sure that we've done something together first. Have dinner, watch something on tv, have a bit of a chat about the day then disappear upstairs for a few hours while he watches something I don't like. Doesn't always work but I manage to get a few hours in a couple of nights a week.

                  • My wife likes to watch me play Destiny. Now that's what I call a 'Keeper'.
You have no idea how many chick-flicks and chick-tv shows I have to watch to keep this train running! Happy wife, happy life!
• I get home from work about 1130 P.M. Wife gets upset that I don't go straight to bed. Im not really "allowed" to play on the weekends. What I need is some people to team up with late so I can actually get something done and not be tempted to play on the weekends when others are playing.

                    • Same as you bro, sort out the kids have tea with wife, watch some tv. Then when everyone is in bed I stay up an hour later and play.

                    • I struggle with raids as my wife gives me that look, I then end up sat downstairs glazed over watching some shit on tv to appease her before sloping off to get at least some bounties in late night! She usually works Saturdays, but has been off work so my usual day of destiny has been off for 9 weeks, she's ok now btw, pulled her back so nothing too serious, I'm not being callous, just getting frustrated now because I NEED shards! :-)

Well I'm inactive on Destiny for the most. I'm married and know the struggle. My ritual: Get home from work, cook or eat dinner (depends who's cooking), hit the gym for an hour, go home and cuddle for a bit and throw on a show, then get up and play for a couple hours.
