Why would I take a ship without weapons and only a shield?
Because John Crichton is on board and he can summon wormholes to destroy the fleet or the other option... I'll at least have a ship which knows the outer quadrant of the galaxy... the portions NOT explored yet... can't win? I can at least hide VERY well for a few years...
