Not the next best thing to a Death Star, in my opinion. Darksaber or the Suncrusher were better than an SSD.

I don't recall Darksaber(my knowledge of Star Wars canon is far from complete) but the Suncrusher would be very useful in this situation.

Darksaber was a stripped down Death Star. It only had a few decks around the central laser, making it look like a lightsaber. It was a prototype Death Star, iirc. Kept in the Maw under Admiral Daala until well after the end of the Empire.

Old Kyp sure did a thing with that Suncrusher, though. And now I remember Dorsk 81 (if that's right) force pushing those star destroyers halfway across the galaxy....killing himself. So there's that.
