I feel your "pain" :)
I'm on the same boat. Started to play Destiny on last November and I have roughly 100 hours of playtime in 3 game characters.
Needless to say that I'm very lucky if I'm able to play one hour each day. I have the same routine as yours but I have to get up early in the morning so there's not that much time.
That's the major reason why I've never done a raid, they take way too long for the time I have free.

I woke up this morning and did Crota's End normal mode within an hour before catching my train to head to work. Our swordbearer left just before Crota's but we still had time to get another swordbearer and down him in time. I've done that two days running now on two characters each morning. If you're already sacrificing one hour of sleep, that's enough to get the raid done in time. :)

Last night did Crota from the Shriekers to end on hard; then from the beginning to end on Hard; then VOG from Gorgons to end on hard, all in 2 and a half hours. If you have the right crew, now is a great time to jump into raiding; if the 5 other people know it all perfectly, you can easily get a full raid done in an hour. Or, as I did, just do one from a particular checkpoint.
