Since we seem to be permitted to discuss thing like this I thought I'd make a thread on this.
Do you think that parents should be allowed to have their child circumcised while they are still an infant? I personally don't think they should, the child can't consent to this and it's kind of violating his bodily integrity. An arguments I hear is "religious freedom" but doing this to a non consenting child could well be a violation of their religious freedom because they could grow up to be an atheist for all we know.
Basically I think it shouldn't be allowed to be done to children who are unable to consent. Once you're at legal adult age then sure you can do it if you really want to, it's your body.

Chicks dont want a man that has the hood up. Parents have every right to remove it if they want. Im glad they did and so is my wife.
-
cut niccas will never know the enjoyment i can feel #sorrynotsorry
-
Of course it should be allowed. I'm definitely glad my parents had it done to me.
-
I'm all for human rights so of course I'm against mutilation.
-
Its good for an infant to have it done, medically beneficial.
-
It should be legal.
-
Circumcisions have nothing to do with religion, it doesn't seem right to give someone a body part and thhen tell them to cut it off
-
Yes. The people who say no are just looking for attention.
-
No as it promotes cleanliness and helps to stop the transmission of stds.
-
the child can't consent to this
Right, which is why his parents act as a medical proxy until he is 18 or legally emancipated.
-
Yeah, spare them the trouble of smegma.

Male circumcision should be allowed, it has been found to have health benefits such as a reduction in the spread of HIV to other partners. As a medical decision, the child is in the care of their parents, and it is therefore their decision as the child cannot make their own. Circumcision is a minor procedure in an infant, in an adult it is much more of an issue due to the increased size of the cutting to be done. Female genital mutilation (incorrectly known as female circumcision) should not be practiced as it is barbaric and of no use
-
There aren't really a lot of benefits to it, and it seems so pointless and insignificant, seeing as not a lot of people will really ever look at it, other than you and your partner(s).
-
Should parents be allowed to cut off their infant's little toe because it's in fashion?
-
No, but at the same time it would be a difficult action to take, to cut my own dick off when I am 18.
-
I like my Mr. Flappy, I want to keep him forever.

Uncircumsized penises are freaking disgusting, unhealthy, and outdated. This thread might as well be titled "Feeding infants, should it be allowed?"
-
Let's also not pretend that being circumcised somehow means your dick doesn't work right. The procedure is mostly cosmetic. The foreskin serve no real purpose.

Here's a good stepping stone for a shit ton of good information , Permutation of Ninjas always has a good read.

Guys - Yes Girls - No

The baby cannot consent, thus the parents have the right to consent to circumcision, so yes.

Edited by Madman Mordo: 9/19/2013 6:55:55 PMI really wouldn't have a problem with circumcision if it was practiced on consensual adults. So no, it shouldn't be operated on newborn infants who cannot make conscientious decisions. BTU MUH HELTH BENEFITS That's great circumcision has subsequent health benefits, but so does eating healthily. Do we arbitrarily force people to eat fruit and vegetables because it's good for them? No, it's their individual choice, and their body, and they can choose to do how they please with it.

I'm uncircumcised, I really don't even know what to make of that honestly, feels like the "circumcision/uncircumcised" debate is just a way to say you're better than someone else in that way. As for doing it to infants, it should be their choice when it's involving a religion they might not even care about, otherwise parents don't really have any business lopping it off because of what they believe.
-
I'll be honest. I kinda wish my parents circumcised me as a babe. I don't want to do it now because I don't want to deal with the pain and if it was done as a baby I wouldn't remember it. Also your wee wee is smaller so there is less skin and it's just better to get it done when you haven't gone through puberty.
