Hate Against Kids (Rant)

Squeakers suck and steal Mommy's Credit Card

Hello I am a 13 year old gamer and I play Destiny. When I join someone or go on raids I am Called "Squeaker". I am apparently someone to laugh at and abuse for being 2 years younger then another person. About 1 in 15 people are nice and don't care. When I need help with a Raid I invite people and ask people for help, then I am abused because I am 13 and have a voice that is kind of high. I play with 6-9 year old's if they need help... most other people just bully them and ruin the experience of Communication on this awesome MMO. I love Destiny it is fascinating and enjoyable... but about 70% of the community are bullies towards "Little Kids". If you don't want to play with someone because they have a voice that you absolutely can't stand, don't be a Bully just say "Sorry I really don't want to do this... I want to do other things" as appose to hurting feelings and being a dick. You were a kid once whats wrong with it? If they are screaming in the microphone and being really Annoying then give them a chance tell them your gonna kick them if they keep going, then if they keep going don't retaliate just be chill and say "Hey you had your warning... sorry your being kicked". The thread is about people being bullies after they say a few words in a high voice. Also if they try to be funny don't laugh and say that wasn't really that funny try something else. About 4 years ago I got Xbox with COD and I did these things to so I can understand why people gave them this reputation. I feel it should be changed a little bit. Fighting fire with fire never works out it's just a waste of time. If this is changed I would think Destiny would be more inviting and people under 14 would enjoy it a lot more! Also shut up about ratings. Look at the movies people sneak in all the time your not gonna stop anything. In Australia you are allowed to play it so you can't say crap about kids from Aussie. Think of something without involving ratings or do you need to rely on them?
Australia has different spelling and grammar and I am 13 get off my case.
• Alright well here's the problem kid. First we just have jackasses who hate kids. My problem with squeakers is that most come into ur game, act like they're the shit, and ruin ur entire match/raid etc. I've run into some ok kids but most are just little hotheaded pricks. That's why I hate playing with squeakers usually.

    • I'm 13 and i don't get hate by scrubs, probably because my voice is deeper. It's a teen game. I shouldn't be discriminated for being the right age to play.

      • It is weird to me to play with little kids. I say a lot of things I wouldn't want my kids to hear so I avoid playing with them in general. I'm not a jerk about it. I just don't stick around when they hop into a party or raid group.

      • I'm an Aussie but I wouldn't say I'm from Aussie, anyway, well said, if I really can't stand a kid, or anyone for that matter, I'll just mute them, that's the way it is, its only ever happened once though

      • I know right! I am 13 as well and called a squeaker. I understand if it annoys people but I don't talk much and I'm going to be in your game talking to you for what, 30 minutes of your life! Like really? You can't handle a slightly high pitched voice for 30 minutes! It really shows how immature and impatient people can be.

      • I don't usually talk about age, but I am a year younger than you are, and I don't run into much trouble, I've noticed just making enough communication and using a formal greeting (odd) sometimes helps. The problem is people sometimes link age and skill, and sometimes that is a good way to judge skill, I'll admit when I run into kids in the trials I facepalm and consider finding another group. Some say I'm the best scrub ever (for acknowledging being a scrub) Just use your vocabulary, it sounds odd, but if you have a college level lexile score you probably know some massive words for your age, I've been called well spoken, and that instills a little respect, if not much. They key thing to surviving as a false squeaker is respect, just git gud, get them to like you, and you are good for the raid!

      • Kids who don't know when to hold their tounges are the problem, for me at least. If you can have a relatively normal conversation while playing, and not commentate every action you take, you're OK in my book.

        • Its really just the fact that most younger kids like to yell into their mic for some reason and talk about the most stupid shit/act obnoxiously. I'm sure many people wont care if you're 12 as long as you're holding your own in the game and communicate effectively

        • Anti bully thread, awesome way to stand out and make yourself more of a target. As many have said, it's about the way yall communicate, the know it all attitude, the annoyingness, the never shutting the -blam!- up when you need to...all those come with growing up and maturing a little bit. I don't give a shit about age, I'll kick my grandpa or my son out of a party pretty damn quick if they're being idiots. Again, this is a T rated game, 13+. I know younger kids are going to play it, doesn't mean I have to condone it. I think it's great kids play, I'd be a hypocrite if I said I didn't game a little as a kid. But, our ideas of social gaming were either at a friends house, or after we grew up a little, we were in arcades where if you didn't respect whoever you were playing, there would be an ass kicking. Respect is something that's lost with your generation in general. Long story short kid, some people are going to care more than others. That's the world you live in, like it or not. Whining and ranting on a forum isn't going to change a thing. Just be cool, don't talk much in parties, and maybe you'll find more groups. Other than that, you'll just have to wait till you get a little older, then you'll find some real shit heads and wish you were dealing with the ones you deal with now.

        • I think the whole squeaker thing is blown out of proportion. Now I'm a respectable 13 year old but get kicked a lot even though I talk only when talked to and I am very patient. I think that if someone can play but has a annoying voice just mute if not you're hurting the whole team by having to find a replacement that is all. P.S. I have been on vacation since the 12th of may and not been able to play since then explaining my low level characters.

        • If you are going to play a game with grown ups then act like one. Don't talk constantly about irrelevant topics. Don't act like you are God's gift to destiny. Don't act like you know everything because you don't. If someone starts giving you crap, give it right back to them. Some people are just going to hate. There is nothing you can say or do to change that so move on. Don't let them bother you. There is a new group created every second(estimate).

        • Random 17 year old here. Younger kids or "squeakers" can be annoying, but its not so much the voice as it is the ignorance (actual use of the word) that some of these kids seem to have. For example, running Crota the other day with my mates on hard. There is only three of us and we aren't gods by any means so we looked for help. Two kids joined, fine whatever. No problems. Then we get to the death singer or whatever her name is, sorry, and one of the kid wants to wipe, so then his friend follows. We were only there for 15 seconds if that. So now down two people, and of course we ef up. So we try again. And once again they want to wipe, saying we took to long and to just restart. By the time we got to Crota it was their bed time and they had to get off. (small tangents, any parents out there for some reasoning reading this, if your child tells you that they are helping others or in a raid, let them stay up a bit later and let them relax. Making them get off only hurts the other people they are playing with.) So another point with kids is the weird rumors that exist around chests in the raids sole kids follow stricter than the ten commandments. It gets crazy! Kids have left my fireteam because I opened a chest. Thats a bit much dont you think? Anyway, to the squeakers out there, if you know your voice is a bit higher or you tend to be a bit loud, thats fine, really, but please for the sake of your fellow guardians, move the MIC away from your mouth a bit. Don't hate on kids just because they are younger or what have you. We all used to be "squeakers" too. :)

        • Kids have always had it hard when gaming with older players. Back in the day kids were abused and bullied in the arcades. At least no one is trying to beat you up for beating them in street fighter or steal quarters from you. You can always log off or just find another team. You have it easy

I'm a 35 year old man. I have kids of my own to play with. I play games with adults who work hard for a living and just want to unwind. Would it be acceptable if I were to play catch with some random kid that I just met? Sounds creepy doesn't it. If it were up to me, xbox live would have a filter that keeps kids out of my games. There's nothing I hate more than trying to do a raid and have some stupid kid making my ears bleed about some stupid topic that isn't even related to what I'm doing. I would pay extra for an adults only xbox live membership.

If it makes you feel better, I'm an adult with a decent high voice (I'm 20) (it most likely will never get any deeper). Heck, it's more of a complement because people think I sound young. What you need to understand is that there are lots of jerks on the Internet and there's no place that is safe from them. The best thing I can say is for you to be mature and respectful to others online and you might get their respect for it. If you do meet these jerks, don't help them or even play with them.
