Hello I am a 13 year old gamer and I play Destiny. When I join someone or go on raids I am Called "Squeaker".
I am apparently someone to laugh at and abuse for being 2 years younger then another person. About 1 in 15 people are nice and don't care. When I need help with a Raid I invite people and ask people for help, then I am abused because I am 13 and have a voice that is kind of high.
I play with 6-9 year old's if they need help... most other people just bully them and ruin the experience of Communication on this awesome MMO. I love Destiny it is fascinating and enjoyable... but about 70% of the community are bullies towards "Little Kids". If you don't want to play with someone because they have a voice that you absolutely can't stand, don't be a Bully just say "Sorry I really don't want to do this... I want to do other things" as appose to hurting feelings and being a dick.
You were a kid once whats wrong with it?
If they are screaming in the microphone and being really Annoying then give them a chance tell them your gonna kick them if they keep going, then if they keep going don't retaliate just be chill and say "Hey you had your warning... sorry your being kicked".
The thread is about people being bullies after they say a few words in a high voice. Also if they try to be funny don't laugh and say that wasn't really that funny try something else. About 4 years ago I got Xbox with COD and I did these things to so I can understand why people gave them this reputation. I feel it should be changed a little bit. Fighting fire with fire never works out it's just a waste of time.
If this is changed I would think Destiny would be more inviting and people under 14 would enjoy it a lot more!
Also shut up about ratings. Look at the movies people sneak in all the time your not gonna stop anything.
In Australia you are allowed to play it so you can't say crap about kids from Aussie. Think of something without involving ratings or do you need to rely on them?
Australia has different spelling and grammar and I am 13 get off my case.
This occurs for three main reasons in my perspective: 1: If they were playing online when they were younger, they were probably verbally abused by older players aswell. As they grow up they transfer all this anger they built up onto the younger gamers that they once were. 2: They feel privileged to have the ability to look down on someone and call them a "squeaker" without that term applying to themselves as well. With age comes a strong sense of responsibility, but also a sense of pride and power. They abuse this power, because there is nothing the victim can do about it. 3: They were raised badly in a household of too many other siblings and family members that they never got enough attention from their parents. This connects to the first point, in that they are transferring their hatred towards other people onto people online. Except this is a more specific reason, only applying to select individual people, whereas point 1 will effect all gamers who have grown up playing video games with others I know what it's like to be neglected by other players, and I understand what you're going through. However, I was better off as my voice has been lower since I was about 12, meaning played thought I was much older. I am currently 16 and people have commonly mistaken me for a 20 year old.
-
Just call them grandpa and treat them like they're slow
-
I'm 14 and people always mistake me for an adult. this basically proves that people judge based on the pitch of someone's voice.
-
I'm only 15 and the way I speak is weird, and somewhat professional, (I've been compared to a lawyer in court).
-
If youre wondering why there is hate against kids watch Broman yesterday. That how all you squeakers act. Unfortunately he's a 40 yr old man child so I wouldnt play with him either.
-
That's a wipe!
-
I don't mind playing with kids at all but I do hate when kids act like idiots and I kick them immediately. If you get on the mic and just babble on about nothing and being loud, whether you are young or old I will boot you. When my kids get on and I hear them acting like idiots with the mic and they aren't playing with real life friends I take the mic away and make them play without it.
-
Anyone under 30 is a squeaker
-
He called destiny a mmo, if u. Thinks It's an mmo u haven't played mmos
-
you play with 6-9 year olds? does anyone else see this as a problem? the most pivotal years of brain development and these kids are feening on video games. when I was a kid all you need was an imagination and a friend to have beyond lots of fun.
-
Six and nine year olds shouldn't even be playing... xD
-
Personally, I don't mind playing with"squeakers". I have young kids so I'm used to it. But what I can gather from the forums and experience playing with both, most people have the following problems playing online games with little kids 1) they talk WAAAAY too much. Seriously. 2) they think they know everything about everything...because they watched a YouTube video 3) they tend to get very loud, very quickly over simple thing, such as getting a kill in crucible. 4) they overuse idiotic terms such as "noob" or "scrub" or say the most annoying phrase in the gaming world "git gewd". Guess they think it makes they seem cooler or something.

What's the rating on the box? Oh yeah, T for Teen, but for real, I'll kick you if you're one of two reasons: 1. You're incompetent and there no hope for you. 2. Annoying as hell.
-
Hey friend me I'll play with you
-
You not a kid anymore your a teenager dumbass
-
I don't care how old you are or what gender you are just don't be an ass and we're good to raid and loot scrubs
-
I just turned 14 and literally never get made fun of. Sounds like your just a loser
-
Yes I see this, squeakers are just little kids that are bad at the game that dont know how to play. I have played with kids that when they are getting shot they scream and run away from the fight, you got shot, BIG DEAL. Little kids with high voices can be good at the game. It is the way that the play makes them a squeaker. A 9 year old can be good, but chances are they are screaming at the screen about getting shot and when they do kill they yell at the dead enemy. I have seen this every where.

As long as people will work as a team and listen to team choices then Idc about age
-
Im 14
i have a really deep voice once got into a conversation with a 40 year old he mustve thought i was an adult
-
Ayy lmao ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
-
You seem pretty well spoken for a 13 year old. I always give folk a chance. Of course a pre-pubescent voice raises concerns, but I always give people a chance. To me, 'squeaker' is more an attitude than a tone of voice anyway.

Got an invite from a friend last night to HM Crota CP. There was a young Brit (not squeaking) running sword... Kid got it done quickly and professionally. Props to the bearer for helping me get my Crux!
-
Man I had two bad kids send me friend request from the tower one literally would get 5 kills on roc strikes and his reason was he saves his amount for the boss:/. And the other wanted to do everything in the raid that made it a team effect. On ce we were cheesing the bridge and would not let the other kids ( sunsinger warlocks) use there super to despawn the enemies and would always want to get on top of the tower. He always wanted to run sword across the bridge. And when someone else got the sword he would kill another sword just to get across, and once before killing it and saying only one needs to go across just before crossing the bridge and being the second across...... And on crota he would right out just blame people for a wipe and saids he can do better...... That raid was on normal and it took about 3 hours to get to crota cut he was wanting to do everything..... So I really don't want to play with little kids.

I commend you on this well written post kid, makes you seem more mature than 13 years old(forget the g -godwinslaw!-). I don't mind the squeaking so much as the constant non stop talking and not following directions. If you do these things i don't care that you are 9 or 29 you are getting kicked from my raid. If you avoid annoying the other 5 players and can hold your own...welcome to the fun!
-
I kick people who are annoying and won't shut up, rude, can't follow directions, or are cocky but suck. Just happens to be squeakers who fit that bill many times - but if it's an adult doing one of the things above, I'll kick them too. Kids don't automatically get the boot from me, in fact, many are quite good at the game. If they can follow the team strategy and are quiet when instructions are given, they're okay in my book.
