Thanks everybody for your feedback! I beat Mass Effect 1 A couple weeks ago and today I beat Mass Effect 2. This game is -blam!-ing amazing! I haven't had this much fun in a while.
As you can probably tell, I'm loving this game. Now the question is......should I watch ME 3's ending? I kind of want to since I'm curious but I don't want to ruin this game for me. I don't want to end this game with a bitter taste.

I have never played Mass Effect and I don't know too much about it. The only things I know about it is that it's a pretty awesome game and that people were raging about the ending of the 3rd game.
If I started playing this game I'd start from the First mass effect and go from there. What are your thoughts on that game? And if I do get it what tips could you give me?

I like how you guys are telling him how to play the game. How about don't tell him how to do anything and let him play how we wants, its his story not yours. The fact that he can go back in another playthrough so see what he missed is one of the main features of the game.

Yes. The first two are absolutely phenomenal experiences. The third is... well... The third. The decisions don't matter, past or present, and it all culminates with rage from the player (most of the time). I had people in the party with me when that happened. They were entertained for about a week because of my little episode. But, as a couple have said in the thread already, the "happy ending" mods improve it drastically. Mass Effect is just one of those games you've got to play.

There will be a point in the game at which you will borderline panic on which decision you'll make to effect the outcome of the trilogy (you'll know when you get there). Your decision won't make a difference either way. I guess that's the main thing I figured I should let you know. Your decisions really don't matter in a meaningful way. Also, the part on the Citadel seems to drag on forever. Stick it out. Trust me.

I thought that it was an amazing game, and everything got better with each game, including story, gameplay and graphics. At the end of the third game people were raging, yes, but I really liked it. I think it was mostly because the ending really fit the game for me as I played quite a dark game; lots of my team died, it was very emotional. The ending seemed like the perfect way to wrap my game up. However, I can understand that if one played a light hearted game then the ending would seem extremely out of place.

Just go ahead and get the box set, WARNING you will lose a few months of your life.

I require updates.

The Mass Effect trilogy is one of the best Sci-Fi experiences you'll ever play through.

Edited by Trollheim: 1/20/2013 12:55:04 PMGet it. Get it NAO! Best science fiction video game series I've ever had the pleasure of experiencing. @ the ME3 ending, I'd say it isn't too bad with Extended Cut. You don't get a happily ever after, but the door is left open to something close if you make the right choices. Edit: I guess you did. The way the forums show threads now requires you to scroll down to the bottom and then come back up to see things in chronological order. Ugh.

My overall suggestion is: No. I love the series to death, especially the second installment. It sets the stage for one of the greatest RPG series this side of 2000. However, ME3 was a complete let down and will leave you feeling unsatisfied and angry that you've put so much time and emotion into these characters. I'd suggest an alternative such as the newly Revamped Baldur's Gate. (Or get the originals and the Icewind Dale series off GoG) Bioware has regrettably lost my vote of confidence.

Loved ME1. Liked ME2. ME3 is pretty forgettable.

How many planets do you visit in this game?
-
Make sure you get Lair of the Shadow Broker for ME2. In my top 5 list for best DLCs ever, right up there with Shivering Isles.

I don't understand how to hack....

This is going to sound stupid to most of you but how the hell do I fly this damn ship? I became a specter and now I'm in the space ship getting ready to go to other planets but I have no idea how to do this. I've talked to everybody in the ship! I can't figure this out! Help plox!

The whole trilogy is some of the best stuff ever produced in the media. Simply amazing for so many reasons. ME3 ending isnt bad, people just had their expectations sky high for it, and I dont blame them. But is definitely not so bad that it ruins the entire game and especially not the whole series. Those who say so are idiots.

I bought the game! Gamestop tried charging me 18$ even though Mass Effect 2 is 10$. So I said -blam!- that and bought it off somebody on KSL classifieds for 10 bucks :] I choose: Origin Colonist Reputation War Hero Class Adept I hope I didn't -blam!- up.

The mass effect series is amazing. Yes.
-
The Mass Effect series is astounding, people complain about the ending for ME3 but in reality it was an arguably good ending.
-
ME3 ending.
-
Why didn't you tag gaming? And yes, you should.
-
All this talk of endings made me think of this.

I still like the series, characters, universe, etc., but I don't agree with the ending to the third game. With that said, I'm replaying the first game now, and my intention is to continue that through the second game. I've also recently gotten back into the multiplayer of ME3, after taking several months break from it. For a lot of people, it seems that the last ten minutes of the third installment ruined the series for them, but that seems a bit silly, if you ask me.

Edited by Blazorazor: 1/14/2013 4:30:09 AMAmazing. I can't think of few trilogy's, movie and games alike, that have as good of a story-line and plot development as Mass Effect. If they sold all 3 games + DLC for 250-300$ I would buy it.

The whole trilogy is amazing!
