An attempt to make sense of the vague story of Destiny

While leveling another character (probably the 6th or 7th time going through the story from level 1) I began to think about the story of Destiny and the information that we're given from the story missions and the few cutscenes. I know that many of us, including myself, aren't happy about the lack of a deeper and more meaningful presentation of the story. But what if it's all we need to know? Imagine being in your Guardian's shoes. We're Guardians that were brought back from the dead. The second we gain consciousness we're told by a small robot that the Fallen are hunting us and that we need to escape and reach the City. Immediately upon arrival we meet our Vanguard and the Speaker. We're told of the threat of the darkness and that we must fight to save what's left of humanity. Now being in that position, it would probably be common for most to immediately take up arms and be willing to fight without question. We follow our ghost and do what we're told must be done in order to defeat the darkness. Now we're doing all this because it seems like the right thing to do and if the Speaker and our ghost says that we have to do this, this, and this, then why wouldn't we do it? And after all is said and done, we begin to ask questions. Is the Speaker using us? Is the Traveler the true Darkness? Why are we doing this? Why aren't we told more? Why am I fighting these different races? A Guardian would most certainly ask himself/herself these questions. Now as a gamer, what if were only given the story points and are supposed to absorb it all from our Guardian's point of view? That we did all this to protect humanity but we want to know more? We're only given as much information as our Guardian would be given. And all the speculation and questions would be what is going through a Guardian's mind. This is how I rationalize the story and it keeps me interested because I'm eager to see gaps in the story each future expansion will fill. As a Guardian I hope to find out the truth about the darkness. Where did it come from? What am I really fighting for? Where did the Exo Stranger come from? What was her motivation to help me and my fellow Guardians? Think about the story like this. As if you only know as much as your Guardian would know. I'm curious to know what others think of this rationalization of the Story.
