Thoughtful discussion no longer exists, apparently, when someone holds a different view. So, I'll just leave these Thomas Jefferson quotes: [quote]...error of opinion may be tolerated, when reason is left free to combat it.[/quote] [quote]...every difference of opinion, is not a difference of principle.[/quote] And, my personal favorite: [quote]...like religious differences, a difference in politics should never be permitted to enter into social intercourse, or to disturb its friendships, its charities or justice.[/quote] I think the last one, in particular, is one we should take to heart. Discussion of differing opinions doesn't have to be uncivilized. You can have reasonable discussion without demeaning the other person. It's perfectly fine to explain your views to another person. It's okay to disagree with them. However, you should still be civil about it, and avoid letting a disagreement damage any future conversations. Flaming at someone is not going to change their view, but rather, make you look like an idiot. Just my two cents.
