The Crucible is overrun with Pulse Rifles, Handcannons, and Shotguns. The majority of AR's are trash, up to the point where they don't even contend with the top five weapons in Crucible. We should see Bungie buff the impact & stability of all AR base stats by 2 - 3%. Range can stay low where it's at. What are your thoughts?
Edit: the current issue is when I engage in an advantageous one-on-one gunfight, built for me to win and lose simply because my weapon is underwhelming. This lets us know that these weapons are terribly imbalanced. Granted I'm not the strongest of players but I understand tact & game flow.
-
Absolutely yes! Put them back the way they were and maybe even make guns like Silmar's Wrath, Atheon's Epilogue, etc., do better in PVE. My least favorite guns to use, pulse rifles & shotguns are now the most deadly.
-
Agree a small buff.
-
All they did in the last patch was basically trade pulses with autos. Autos are now as useless and pulses used to be.
-
Honestly, the damage nerf wasn't so bad. But it hit two-fold with the range decrease, especially in PvE. I notice the damage fall-off almost immediately, like I'm shooting through water. There's no reason you shouldn't be able to keep enemies at bay with an AR, scouts and pulse will still take individual targets down faster at that range.
-
Hmmmm I wanna say yes but only the hard light and suros are lacking imo for me at least, can't get kills for shit with those guns. But Monte Carlo, abyss defiant, and vanquisher work pretty well for me and headshots

Paper bullets

With the recent buff on pulse rifles, and a nerf on auto rifles, ARs are trash. I love auto rifles, but they just cant compete with any other primary, DPS wise. Thinking about it, the Suros Regime was the only auto rifle that was too strong, its the cause of this mess really.
-
If they do end up buffing them, I wouldn't want it to be more than 1/2 of the Nerf they just received..
-
Auto rifles have now become a laughing stock. The best way to send Bungie the re-buff message is not to use them; the company seems to take this as performance feedback. Basically, if you want auto rifles to be returned to their former glory DO NOT USE THEM.
-
10% of people caused this nerf to happen.
-
10% of people are ignorant.
-
10% of people dont like and never use auto rifles.
-
The only time an auto rifle can win now in crucible is when: A) the other guy screws up And/or B) the other guy is using a scout rifle in close range
-
Used to feel handcannons were the strongest choice, now pulse rifles are more in line with them. Don't know why AR got nerf when HCs dealt with them easily. Give AR a buff back to where they were and it will be more balanced across the board. Everything else is fine as is
-
If popularity is what they use to balance guns then guess what's up next... Hand cannons
-
they shouldve never gotten the latest nerf
-
Agree 1000%. I don't even understand why they nerfed them to begin with. I don't remember people running rampant with ARs destroying everything in theyre path. Bungie just wanted pulse rifles to shine more. Which was a mistake imo. ARs are practically useless now. Thnx Bunjie.
-
Not all the way. Like 1% or 1.5%. Pulse rifles were my favorite from the start but nerfing auto rifles that much and buffing pulse rifles BY 9.7% is ridiculous!

Nerf was a good idea, poorly executed. Now ar's are all shit, as opposed to godly.
-
My Vanquisher still rekts, suck it up or don't play at all. Learn to adapt.

Yes ARs need a buff now. Should have never been nerfed in the first place. Buff them up and leave everything else alone. You will see it start to balance. It's these nerfs that are throwing it off. Doesn't fix the gun, just causes that one to be replaced by another.
-
I think the AR's need a close range buff at least. They should dominate close to mid-range, and the shotties need to be nefred to only close range. The damage drop-off distance of the AR's was nerfed too much.
-
No mention of scout rifles?

AR should be buffed by causing more damage at close range in my opinion. Making the hard light and etc more viable. Seems game is rewarding impact far beyond rate of fire making some guns too dominate over others. Not sure how to balance that easily.
