Story: 2/10
We shouldn't have to read Grimoire, plain and simple
English
-
The grimoire is just lore . It's a back story to the game. Every mmo has this.
-
Still begs the question: Where is the story?
-
Uhh in the game. Every cut scene. You know we find a ship, we kill some shit, we go to the moon, we kill some shit, a robot lady finds us, we kill some shit, than we have to go to Venus, where we kill some shit, and than Mars where the destiny one story ends by us killing some shit(the heart in the black garden) Is this not good enough for you?
-
Was it good enough for you?
-
Another generation "I want it now" person. How unique. Reading to hard maybe?

This isn't an example of an entitlement attitude, this is just wanting a product presented in appropriate context and order. This is wanting the industry standard, or at least what it used to be. Games had plots and they were built into the game itself. Most were told through cutscenes and dialog in the game, but the Industry WAS heading toward more interactive presentations like games like Mass Effect and Elder Scrolls. The Grimoire is great background lore, the kind of stuff that truly interested players would dig around for in or out the games. But the plot, while it does exist, left too much open to be congruent with the universe that it was created for. I'll admit, it leaves it open for some crazy plot twisting revelation that could explain the lack of information, and if they do that, I would cash in my disappointment for praise in a heart beat. Hell, I still hope that's whats gonna happen. But as is, the story is totally lacking. Think of it this way: When you go to see a movie, everyone has something they want to see, action, comedy, romance. But if the movie was for action fans and all it had was some dude running around shooting things for seemingly no or little reason at all, what's the point?. They could have some fantastic special effects too, but if the story was simply: "Oh hey look! An AK-47! Let's go blow stuff up!" then the movie was really pretty, but had no substance. This is a great example for Destiny as many enjoy the gameplay, even as grindy as it is, but sorely miss a decent plot. The only types of movies that are generally accepted with no or lacking plots are pornos. And I have even seen a few of them with a more engrossing plot than Destiny.
-
And I never said it wasn't lacking hut it is not nearly as bad as people make it seem.
-
The expendables series was carried by the cast and cameos alone in my opinion. I didn't even think the action was that great and thought they mixed up some roles a little bit (the melee weapon user and martial artist was NOT Jet Li?!). But that example kinda proves my point. Those were eye candy movies in the action sense, but compared to the A-Team? A better plot and good cast made up for and exceeded the action that it lacked in comparison. Of course this is just my opinion, just like my impression of Destiny's story and you can take it or leave it. Expect me to do the same with your opinion.

Agreed however Jason Statham is also highly trained if I remember right. so him being the knife user wasn't a surprise to me. Chuck Norris making chuck Norris jokes was awesome though
-
Yes to both, but c'mon, Nikon asked if Jet could be on his Secret Service detail after watching Jet perform ... at the age of 11.
-
Lol in fearless they had to speed the cameras up 10x normal to keep up with him
-
Yup. Another good one is The One. Jason ' s in that one too. But who better to face off against Jet than Jet?
-
Hahaha have you seen War? (also known as Rogue I believe)
-
Yep. It was ok. Believe me, if there is a Jet movie I don't own or at least haven't seen, I would be shocked.
-
Hahaha nice. Idk I think Fearless is my favorite one personally.
-
One of mine too. I also like Hero.
-
I doubt that about the pornos with plots. But clearly you've never seen the expendables. Lol. Or most action movies tbh. Gun shoots bullets things explode people die. Movie over.

Edited by ThisMahSwamp: 3/24/2015 8:16:54 PMOh look, another Bungie sympathizer. How unique. We deserved more and you know it. There is no defense for the "story" Destiny currently has. It was sheer laziness on their part. There are developers with 1/50th the budget of Bungie that can string together a competent in game story. What is Bungie's excuse? I am not asking for a complete point A to point B story in the first installment. All I am asking for is character. Is that really too much to ask for? There is no passion, no urgency, NOTHING. It's bland, room temperature porridge. Why do you think Destiny scored such low marks to begin with? Destiny deserves every bit of criticism that is thrown its way, so long as it is constructive in some way. Keep kidding yourself buddy. "Reading to hard maybe?".....you meant to say TOO you tool bag.
