Hi everyone.
So I recently received the Fang of Ir Yut from Crota's End, and I came to find out that I love using this scout rifle. However, when I carried it into the Crucible, I was unable to get even a single kill with it.
I normally run with pulse rifles (have been since before the patch), and I do pretty well with both Bad Juju and the Stranger's Rifle. My average K/D isn't bad, slightly above a 1.0
However running with the Fang, I lost eleven gunfights in a row, before I said "screw it", pulled out the Juju and began melting fools.
Anyway, I would love to run with the Fang of Ir Yut, but I haven't been able to make it work in PVP. Does anyone have any experience with this weapon or similar scout rifles?
Any constructive pointers would be welcome - thanks!
**Edit**
Thank you for all of the tips and suggestions. Using your advice, I am now wielding my Fang as effectively as could have hoped. After a few games, I consistently earned a positive K/D, even up to a 2.0
So thank you very much!
Edited by TheNeedlessMage: 3/26/2015 12:10:38 AMHey man. Good question. It sounds like you've been running with the slightly more Auto Rifle-esque Pulse Rifles - higher ROF / full auto etc. These are marvellous in the mid range - especially since the auto rifle nerf has eliminated one of their main competitors - but this play-style doesn't directly translate to using Scout Rifles. If you want a Pulse Rifle comparison, think more in terms of Evergreen or Three Little Words - precision weapons that require you to really consider your shots and are most effective at slightly longer range. These weapons reward a more support-oriented play-style in which you generally stay behind the first line of your team. This gives you time to line up head shots and to finish off weakened foes.
