It's part of there culture/humour British humour/comedians is quite cringey/ we don't mind tacking the piss out of our selves for a good laugh, Del Boy/David Brent would be good examples For Americans it's the opposite the comedian acts like he's the best thing ever trying to put everyone else down, it's more dick swinging than anything else
