I have no motivation to do anything. There's no job I want that's feasible, I'm failing half of my classes for the year, and I can't help it. It's like my mind filters out things it considers irrelevant or unimportant, I can never remember or understand Spanish, chemistry, etc. I know if I keep neglecting school I'm going to have a lifetime of struggle but I just can't change no matter how hard I try. I'm not looking for pity I just want to write out I'm destined to fail, and have felt that way for years. Nothing makes me happy but music and my friends I've known for years. Just when I thought I knew how things would end up my long-term girlfriend left me with little to no obvious cause, and I'm back at square one. My biggest fear is ending up like my dad. He's a supposed bleeding heart Christian who got two women pregnant in one night stands, does nothing but play video games at almost the age of 50, and has slowly became more and more ignorant from working at a dead-end job at a grocery store for over a decade stacking fruit on a shelf every day. It's damn pathetic. I just don't want to be a complete failure like him but feel it is inevitable. Sorry for the ramble.

  • Keep at it. It gets better in college. I'm guessing you are 15-17? (Spanish class). Just keep grinding, life gets better when your hormones settle down. Just don't give up on the way.

  • Sadly the education system is broken, you learn more from life experiences then you could ever hope to in school. Try and achieve happiness through music. Oh and the thing about yer pop, have you ever considered that he stayed at that job to give you the stability needed early in your life. Heck he probably started playing video games as a way to connect with you.

  • Nah see he worked at a hospital, quit to a furniture store, and then quit to a grocery store. He's also turned down promotions because he wants to "keep it simple." And gaming did work when I was younger but he's been playing games the majority of his life and barely even spoke with me when I was in school, choosing to talk to friends online instead so nah.

  • No problem, seriously though, do perdue whatever career makes you happy. I've seen lots of family that went to college and are miserable for the rest of their lives, and yet there are people like me, I'm a dishwasher, and outside of my simple job I do what I want and I'm pretty content. Don't get me wrong, I do still suffer from both bipolar disorder, and severe depression, so I have my bah days, but one you stop caring it all gets simple. My recommendation is try meditating for an hour each day. Simply find a comfortable position, shut out the world, focus on your breathing, and make sure to set an alarm. If that fails, and you live in a state where its legal, I recommend weed. Its a antidepressant, it smells fantastic, it has a large culture, and a little goes a long way.

  • If you think you will fail, you will, if you think you will succeed then you will, the mind if a powerful thing, unleash it's power guardian, I hated school bit I pushed threw it, I took the classes that I loves (welding, mechanics, electrical, woodworking) and from this I have found my trade and now I am happy and I'm successful because I thought of success but many times I wanted to quit, but then my grandma, who is now passed told me,god gives his toughest battles to his strongest soldier ( I don't mean to have religion involved in this) but try to look at the brighter side of things

  • Find somewhere that welcomes music with open arms. I would suggest finding a church that needs extra worship musicians.

  • You won't be like him if you try. My grades were terrible in school so i chose the military (not just for that reason though). What i'm saying is that there are always open doors. You could get a great job, hot wife, and a happy life if you just keep your head up and find the inspiration and motivation to do so

I'm having the same problem man. Do you enjoy anything? The only reason I don't hate myself is because I'm actually a talented artist, or so I believe. Also same gf problem :I
