The new players that are not aware of all the systems in the game (like how damage works and how range/impact affects it, etc.) will be using them, until they get a decent hand cannon/scout rifle and a shotgun that is...! The older players know how much they suck now. There is absolutely no point in using them anymore.
After the patch, I've never used an AR again. Even the SUROS, which I was very hyped about when I got it post-patch, didn't make me want to use them more. I put it in the vault as fast as I could after leveling it up.

Only AR i use is silimars wrath because it has the perk i want IB gear is my main gear because its the only you can have/make like you want

Oh man I don't know how many motes I've wasted on mine. I had a perfect stability roll on my first one with Glass Half Full as well, and then I decided to reroll it for range when I read about the patch changes... but in the end it just wasn't worth it all! I've given up on it. Too bad, because I like the look of it too.

Wasted over 100 motes on my second jolders hammer... Nothing for me Now i have to wait for next IB XD Hope hes selling pulse rifle and fusion rifle ^^
