Why vault space is preferred over character slots for many gamers. I personally want my weapons primarily stored in the vault because if they are on my characters I have to constantly make extra trips to the tower to transfer items between them. Where as if the weapons are in the vault it is one trip. For example ....Arc burn nightfall. If all my arc burn weapons I want are scattered among three different characters, that's a lot of trips to and from the tower to get them all on one character. However, if desired arc burn weapons are kept in the vault my trip is basically one and done instead of many trips. I complete the night fall, return the weapons to the vault, change characters and pick them up for the next nightfall run. After running the final NF high priority weapons are returned to the vault if not in use for the next activity available for whichever character I want. That is one of many reasons why gamers want more vault space and are not so concerned about character space. Vault space is preferred over character space because it is more convenient and a big time saver. Tons of other reasons why a vast majority of gamers want more vault space.

Yet another reason the game and character changes should start in the tower, and not in orbit.

Agreed, even with the companion app (which is awesome by the way) being able to use the vault for storage cuts the workload in half when we want to transfer between characters.
