What was the very first form the Flood appeared in, and what was the first living organism in which the Flood infected and mutated?

The first Flood form was a fine dust of Precursors that was originally meant for them to be reborn, but was corrupted over time, and eventually became a basic Flood gas/dust. The first thing it infected were dogs, as infecting them gave desirable looks and changes, but over time,they became more wild, and became a pandemic.

Ckakas became 343 Guilty Sparks and humanity was supposed to gain the Mantle.

They were called Precursors but were corrupted by their own organic dust which caused the disease and eventual mutation. They then embraced becoming the Flood in order to destroy the Forerunners as a final act of vengeance after being nearly wiped out themselves as Precursors at the end of the war.
