Hello titan, The best way of getting legendary gear is to go to strike playlist and do strikes because in that way you are killing 2 birds with one stone. The first part of that is you have a chance for it to drop in legendary engrams or end of match rewards the second is you will earn vanguard xp and marks from them allowing you to buy armor and weapons from the vanguard vendor. Unless you are more of a crucible player then I suggest (obviously) playing crucible, but with a faction class item on (they can be bought from the 3 faction vendors New Monarchy, Dead Orbit, or Future War Cult) to make all xp gained go to the selected faction hope I could be of help
