I think that even if it flops like destiny did (which is unlikely), it will still be very interesting. It will probably even end up successful, since fans are looking for an improvement on halo 4.
Halo 4 wasn't widely accepted by halo fans because 343 tried to mimic bungie. They tried making master chief awesome, but just made repeats of the other games and applied it to a different storyline. It wasn't even as good as the original games- they couldn't work with developed characters like the arbiter and Johnson. I still believe halo 4 was good, but it wasn't great. Halos 1-3 were great because of their originality.
Which leads me to halo 5's trailers. From what I've observed, it appears to be very different initially, but really, it matches up with halo 2. Instead of an enemy becoming an ally (the arbiter), an ally may become an enemy (chief). In both cases, the characters are accepted, despite their role in the society as a whole. Their personal motives are relatable and moral.
But let's discuss the most important part: why halo 5 seems to be different. First of all, the dialogue sounds much more meaningful than halo 4. There seems to be a purpose in the story behind each line, while halo 4 sometimes just had a line for the sake of a cutscene. More importantly, halo 4 was concluding where bungie left off. Now, 343 is left with a very limitless story to continue as they please. For all we know, master chief could marry the grave mind (although that won't happen, you probably see my point).
Basically, what I'm trying to get at is the originality of the games. The first three were successful because they introduced new aspects. CE was the first halo period, halo 2 had dual wielding and a dual perspective, and halo 3 had multiplayer. Halo 5, like halo 2, also introduces a dual perspective, allowing for an expanded story. And we can all agree that halo 2 was successful- I can't find a rating online below 9/10. If 343 can accomplish what I have speculated, then halo 5 might be one of the best, if not the best, halo games to date.
If you've finished reading me ramble, you deserve an opinion too. What do you guys expect from halo 5? Please, have honest feedback. No #scrub or "bruh halo 4 wuz shit."

I disagreed with the bulk of the fanbase about Halo 4. And I'm extremely psyched up for Halo 5. I agree with the thrust of your point that Halo 5 is probably going to be pretty different, and the Locke-Chief dynamic is, while reminiscent of the Arbiter-Chief one from Halo 2, going to be something very interesting.
