Classes shouldn't be "balanced", it will lead to boring classes because there would be no differences other than cosmetic ones.
Look at WoW, it used to be so much fun to play(especially as a Rogue...) but now all the classes feel pretty much the same, and it's boring as hell.

There's a difference between class abilities and balancing the classes.

Generally "balancing" means nuking one class, buffing another, and they keep going until they're all boring.
