Thel Vadam was formerly known as Thel Vadamee. What was the purpose of the "ee" suffix in his name and why did he remove it?

I just read this book. Wasn't it because he was like the leader of his line and the Prophets gave him a ship..?

Edited by The Fallen Zyzz: 4/5/2015 5:04:24 AMYou're on the right track but, it is a little more simple than that. The "ee" suffix is given to all Elites who are actively serving in the Covenant military. The Arbiter removed it when he left the Covenant during the Great Schism.
