I dunno how Exos work.But they were built by humans and exos can feel I think because in the mission "A Strangers Call" the guardian has a sense of humor.Or in another moission he/she/it says "I have a bad feeling about this"

True, if they are cyborgs they may have a shred of humanity/alienity. The other more likely idea is they could have smart AI's. Either way I wouldn't copulate with my toaster, it can't exactly reciprocate any feelings. Can it?
