If there are baddies there before Valus got there, you skipped thru the gun battles and went straight to Valus. Hunter w/ invisibility is the key to not getting shot by Valus and minions.

I did. I didn't know that's what caused the extra baddies to be there. From now on, I shall kill everything on the way to Valus instead of running past.
