• I haven't spent a LOT of time with it but it seems good. I like the background story and the way the narrative unfolds, it's pretty gritty, straight to the point and doesn't mess around. My only gripe is that the camera moves to fast, but I imagine that's a side effect of being ported from the PSP. The graphics are okay, but I think it will be the characters that make it memorable, even if the localization of the script is a bit, er, "odd". Honestly, I would have bought it later when it came down in price, but curiosity got the best of me and I was flush with cash so I splurged and got it. It comes with a dl code for FFXV, but I'm still undecided as to whether I like it or not. The graphics are nice, but that feels like it's all it has going for it, I hate the combat and find the fact that the characters are kind of annoying rather frustrating. That's coming from a huge FF fan, I've been collecting them since ff on the NES. I'd say wait TIL it's cheaper, but if you HAVE to play it, you could certainly do worse. It's a good game.

 • Cool. I've been an FF fan since snes, but the first one I really played (first one I owned) was ff7. They've lost me on a lot of the newer titles; I'm just not a huge fan of a lot of FF games now. I'll always have a soft spot for them though so I've got to at least ask about them

 • I liked the steampunk direction 6 and 7 went in. They kind of lost me at 8, too much emo, pink and purple lol. 9...was GREAT. It was the best of everything that JRPG's do so well. I especially liked that they went back to a non-all-human cast, and all the characters were really likeable. It was a breath of fresh air after 6/7/8 to have a protagonist who wasn't a moody, quiet teenager. Zidane was just an all around good guy and I liked that. My single biggest problem with every one since X has been the new combat systems. I hate them, I like menu driven combat for my RPGs. The only concession I'll make is for XII. Building your party's AI and watching how your battle plans unfolded was pretty Damned cool. If they make a remake of that one is be right on board.

 • See I really liked 7/8, all the moody teenager stuff aside. Which wasn't a huge deal for me because I was in my early teens then anyway. The stories of those two games, FF7 in particular, we're awesome
Aeris dying was an incredible moment in gaming, especially for that time
I actually didn't like 9, it was too Japanese for me. Same thing with 10. I didn't like 13 at all either; too Japanese and I wasn't a huge fan of the combat system plus I felt like it was super linear (along with 10; I was used to 7 and 8 where you've got a bit more freedom to move around). I tried 14 out and kinda liked it but even the combat system in it is a bit slow for me. I never played 12 though

 • Just wanna say, RE the spoiler... There's like zero drive with current games story lines to have plot twists of that calibre. In this game for example, The Traveller was " planned " to end up being the true evil antagonist. But then they fired the storyboard guy, so, yeah. I'm waiting for a main character ( you care about... ) to die, or a major plot twist. All of the current gen is bullshit. I can't even find a game I want for storyline anymore.

Dragon Age Inquisition has some solid storytelling in it, although nothing like the plot twist from FF7 or like the one in the first KOTOR. I just don't think they struck gold on that one in terms of the story, but it's still pretty damn good. Bioware games generally have solid stories and can contain pretty awesome twists (KOTOR 1 for example). Same thing with Mass Effect 1 when you first meet Sovereign. I'm just hoping EA doesn't dumb them down too much for the next Mass Effect though. I can't say I have a whole lot of hope for many other game developers though. I'm hoping the next Fallout/Elder Scrolls game returns to having a solid story too

 • It depends. If you are one of the old, die hard "Dante-doesn't-have-a-white-Justin-Bieber-acorn-penis-beauty-haircut-omg" player, then you will bemoan the new style. I personally only played a bit of 1 and 3 so I came into the 360 version last year with a blank slate of what to expect. They added a bunch of new stuff for the One version that makes the game harder and gives it a lot more variety, so I bought it again. Since I bought it with DS:SotFS, I only paid 20 bucks for it, which gives it another good point, it's cheap, which it should be (do you hear that Square? Who the -blam!- wants to pay 70 bucks for a rehash (no matter how pretty) of a 3 year old PSP game. FF Type 0 HD should have been 40 bucks) Lastly, while 1080p shows the shortcomings of the graphics a bit, it definitely makes it prettier, and 60fps makes it pretty damn smooth. My opinion is that if you have the cash, like stylish brawlers with a pretty likable protag and a bunch of features that were added with the benefit of a year of player feedback, pick it up. Watch a few vids so you know what to expect, but I imagine you've already done that.

 • I meant specifically the port itself, sorry. I love all of the Devil May Cry games. Even the second one which gets a lot of negative press. Thanks for the information. I may pick it up at some point for sure.
