Prison of Elders is going to be better than any Raid

Honestly, I feel as if though the Prison of Elders is going to be a breath of fresh air for destiny. The Crota raid was a disappointment and VoG got stale after the first few times. Four alternating arenas with objectives is going to allow for a constantly changing and interesting survival/arena experience. Plus there is going to be some sweet new loot drops and bosses included. It's like a raid that changes every week! Personally I wish it was 6 player survival instead of only 3... But either way I'm exited.   • I doubt it. I'm sure it's bound to be like arenas in WoW where it's 2v2 (rated/skirmish) 3v3 (rated/skirmish) or 5v5 (rated/skirmish)

    • I think it sounds like something that's going to be fun for a week or two, then one big snoozefest. A Crucible for PvE players at best.

    • Well, there's two ways they can go about the horde mode. Have it purely for fun, offering no real rewards. Grinders will write it off as pointless. Or have it with rewards of value. The grinders will like it, yet those just chasing some fun will find it will probably be restricted like the Nightfall/raids are. Of course, Bungie could have it with a decent reward system, that would not break balance, nor seem useless, and thus not need to be restricted. But going off their "reward system" thus far, that's not going to happen.

      • Well we'll have to see. I don't really care if there is a raid or not. This is a good substitute (ie one that I will be able to actually find a team for), and I'd like to see how it turns out.

      • It will be simplified compared to a raid, which takes co-ordination (especially launch day). But the bugs will appear, and people will start complaining shortly after when they lag out, or something regens health, bad drop rate etc.

      • if its anything like the madness of public events where "the enemy is moving in on each other" but non stop.. thatll be really fun for leveling weapons and gear. pair it with bounties etc.. could be a cash cow of exp and glimmer farming. im curious to see what they do with it

            • I concur. We're getting something entirely new, and get to hold off on "LEVEL 34 ONLY, MUST HAVE GJALLARHORN" for a few extra weeks.

              • I'm happy they are trying something different, my biggest gripe is that it's not 6 players. This was the only thing that has a 6 player PvE experience that I know of on PS4 right now, that takes Co-operation and communication. I know the raid is coming out later, but for the dedicated raid groups, who had the time and people to do it with, they are pretty much left out. My group doesn't even care for it now since it's not 6 players. They better have the skulls changing every # of waves, and a mini boss here and there atleast. I saw 3 players and instantly thought of the sepiks prime mission where you have to hold off 3 waves. I pray it's not exactly like that. I'm waiting for more info to drop, so I can stop looking at it like it's a strike with no mission objectives. I just seriously don't understand why it's 3 players, I swear more crap is going on in the raids than any horde mode. Plus the size of the maps, unique systems, enemies, timers, conditions, etc

                • If they do it anything like ODST where the difficulty skulls (multipliers) change as the waves progress that keeps it interesting - it is still a lot of fun to see how long you can hold out and the crazy strategies that develop to adapt on the fly. I still like to raid but they do tend to fall into "routine" - like Crota fight, pretty much every time now, clear crystal room, run to ledge and kill knight, shoot first volley, shoot 2nd volley, etc.... doesn't always go to plan but every group lately seems to do the same things, same for VOG agree with OP that 6 player would be preferred but who knows - no details to really decide anything yet....

                  • The fewer people in the team tends to place more importance on each individual's ability and gear. It should at least limit carrying.

                    • I agree. I'll reserve judgement for not having a raid once we actually know what we are getting. I'm down for fresh experiences. TBH a survival mode of 3 people will take more skill than a raid.

                      • I'm betting arena is going to be like this: every 10 rounds there is a checkpoint which allows you to leave and than comeback whenever you wish. After that checkpoint round is defeated you are rewarded with RNG loot. Every 15 rounds there is a mini boss that spawns which gives higher chances at armor and weapons. By the 60th round( after fighting through 3 boss levels and 6 checkpoint lvls) the main boss, the Kell of Wolves, spawns and once he is killed he has a chance to drop the arena helmet ( only obtainable from him) and other RNG loot. He also has a 4% chance to drop the lord of wolves shotgun.

                        • It could have like a tower feel, teams gaining prestige as the go higher or deeper into the arena. Leaderboards and all.. Sounds good to me.
